a little over 12 lbs.

We have taken several large geese this year.

The last time we took one, I decided to buy a fish scale for my layout blind.

Not THAT big??? Photos please??

Wow, I'd like to hunt where you hunt! I've heard of guys taking 17 pounders.

I've see a lot of pictures on this forum and hardly anything looks as big as that. I'm not saying it's the biggest ever, but . . . Not that big . . . Wow.

Now, you don't think this is a goose do you?

The 15 lb goose contest just ended over on the fuge forum. Young guy from SD won it with a 15 lb 2 oz bird. Took 3 years and that was the biggest one submitted even when the contest started at 18 lbs min. I was glad to see someone win but also glad to show that claims of 18-20 lb birds in modern time being taken aren't probably true.

There are records from ag schools in the midwest recording 18 lbers with official documentation but they are from the 50's and 60's when the true giants were believed to exist.

In the park where I live I bet there are some 18lbers no joke. the biggest I have shot was my first goose and it was 13lbs 11oz. and the other part of the pair I shot was 12lbs 7oz. they both came in and when they hit the water i didn't think they were that big until I picked the SOB'S up.
