I haven't seen any snows yet, however back in November there were a couple of blues in the Hartford Refuge chillin' with the Candians.

East of you in Central Illinois the skies have been full of snows the last several days. They are headed north also. May be a bad spring if we don't get some nasty weather soon.

I have heard that a big lake less than 100 miles south of me is currently holding about 300,000 Snows, I found this hard to believe, but found several people confirming it on The Duch Hunters Refuge. Some said as many as 500,000 Snows in that region.
I think I may have to head south real soon.

I believe for stamps and everything on a five day license it is like $53, but you might not need a federal stamp since you allready have one for Iowa, so that would save you some money. I just looked into them at christmas time when my brother in law ans nephew where up from alabama. I think you can probably get it all at most Walmarts. Good luck.

I am hearing that Carlyle is holding a ton of Snows, it is public area with some walk ins, but I imagine competition for a blind will be tough durring the weekends. Down at Carlyle it is still regular season, so no e-calls and you must have your plug in your gun. But you can still shoot ducks and Canadas their right now. But I hear they are few and far in between.
IDNR has public land hunting info on their site if you wan't to google it, should provide you with a ton of info and rules and phone numbers to call for more info on individual parks and such.
Good Luck, let us know if you come over and how you do.

I haent seen any snows here in central Iowa for several months, but did see a snow and a blue (juvies) flying with 2 honkers on Friday. Thats it around here though. Dont wip out the texas rags yet boys. I can almost guarantee we got alot of cold weather still on the way this year.

been hunting carlyle jsut about every weekend since opening day and the snows are EVERYWHERE! Ducks just moved out but hopefully they will b back in here this weekend. Yes there are walk-ins but they are chaos. We have to take a bike to beat guys to our pot holes and we arent the only ones, its a mad dash to the good spots. Yes, ducks and canadians are in season as well as snows but not the conservation season as was mentioned. The snows want down bad too! They survey said 38,000 ducks and 14,000 snows/blues as of jan. 4 & 6. and Kecks Marsh has 11,500 ducks and 150 honkers, didn't get the snows. That is located pretty close to carlyle lake. Ducks are over on the 22nd of this month. Thats all i know of and snow conservation season opens feb. 1st unless quota is filled and lasts untill march 1st i believe.
