Umm...is it a double reed? if it is press the dimples a little deeper on the top reed or use some emery cloth on the tone board and scuff it a little bit. Stop spitting so much on your feeder call if you can try and unfortunately mine freezes all the time too in cold weather and I have a call coozy plus rain-x. Rain-x does help but only temporarily.

It is a double and i pushed the dimples in more but hey what do you mean by tone board the part that is right behind the reed?

the tone board is what the reed(s) lay on. they have a channel cut into them called a tone channel that your air goes through to make the sounds. Where your top reed lays flat against acrylic, you should scuff no more than a couple passes with your ole ladies finger nail file to create a rough surface that moisture can't build up on. You can also use a dollar bill to suck up the moisture after you blow it a few times. Alot of the guys I hunt with stick their foiles calls, and the best thing above all these is to practice blowing hot air instead of spitting your notes. It takes practice just like everything else, but its way better than 50 fatheads approaching and your call locked up.

Calling Ducks 2.0 Jeff shows how to lightly scuff up your tone board if your call is sticking. That is the best way for you to see it done. If you do it yourself use fine sandpaper or as said before a nail file. Lift the reed up just a little bit and lightly scuff up the tone board. This should help it out a bit.

Will this do anything to the sound of the cal?

hey man i fell and know your pain. the scuffing of the tone board does work but this will also work i guarantee it. Take some chap stick and rub it underneath the reed on the tone board, and wherever else you get major condensation from your spit. Make sure you don't use alot of the chap stick other wise it'll stick from the chap stick, but the chap stick repels the condensation and works wonders. It's pretty much the same as the Rain X but alot better. I put it on all my calls twice during the season and never have any problems with my calls sticking.
Hope this helps you out. and if you do it, let me know how it works for you.

Will this do anything to the sound of the cal? Nope it won't change anything. It is really easy to do, Just remember scuffing/light sanding the surface is all you need to do. I have had to do this myself a time or two not only to duck calls but Grunt tubes too if there stickin' in the cold weather. Works good on grunt tubes too! :D

It should be good for a while. Try not to goober too much in the call that will help too. Not saying you do but I know guys that do and man o man no wonder they stick. If it locks up again do the same thing. Remember that reed comes slamming down on the tone board and if it is scuffed up a bit it makes it more difficult for the reed to stick. If the tone board is smooth it is no good usually in cold weather. You should be good to go! 8)

My deat meat does this alot too,

Im tryin the rain x thing out tomorow, than chap stick, and if both of them dont work im gonna give FMI a call to see if they'll swap me inserts out, ive heard of people getting inserts that were just bad for sticking before, and switching em and not sticking anymore.

Theres just no reason for a call to stick this much.

Thats what i said when it first started happening but the scratching of the tone board helped a TON and the Rain X is ok...

I would really doubt it if it is the insert. If I remember right all acryllic calls are turned, meaning they are done on a CNC machine. So really I doubt It will be the inserts cause they are done this way. Take your call totally apart. clean it in hot soapy water. Dry it all off and while it is apart sand your toneboard a bit. If done right it should help greatly. If hunting in very cold weather keep the call close to your body to keep it half ass warm. I have been told by some of the best that if it is that cold out all duck calls will stick cause your salivia is thick and being that cold it freezes up in a minute or two. Just trying to help. 8)

Amen to that brotha! Definitely take it lightly on the chapstick. I put on what I thought was a "little" and completely gobbed up my call.
