First off i must say i'm not a great goose caller. I prefer ducks. Anyway, I have an acrylic market hunter tuned pretty well to my liking and i do well with it. The problem i have is that its set very loud. I want another call for deeper tones and softer calling. I am starting to prefer wood/acrylic calls. I was considering the all wood High Plains, or the SMH. What would you guys reccommend.

smh/cocobolo, wood calls usually have a richer tone than acrylic, at least mine does. just my .02 cents worth

SMH, I believe you HPH will be too high pitched and loud. just my .02 cents.

If you want a wood/acrylic combo, I'd try a diamond wood/ acrylic of your color preference. I have a SMH and it seems to be a call that you can tune to be deep, slow, lot of air or high pitched, fast and not much air or in between. Me and my buddy's all have them and we all have ours tuned differently to fit out calling style and its good cause we all sound different.

You cant go wrong with the SMH. You can tune it to your liking pretty easily

Yeah SMH is definately the call you wanna get, its and awesome all around call, i have a MH as my secondary, and a SMH as my Go To Call, cant ever fail with that combo, use the MH to reach out to them, then swich to the SMH when they get close, get them low feeding growls....just my $.02

What wood did you get? I love the look of the Burnt Hedge and smoke, or all burnt hedge.

That's the exact 1 i got. It's a little different from my MH to blow but i'm tuning it that way so i will just have to get used to it.

It's almost un-American to not own an SMH.

This is my 1st season using one, and I'm tellin' you this thing really "rocks" em. My buddies, who don't have one YET, are pretty impressed as well.
