I know a lot of ducks have different names: Spoonbill/Shoveler, Bluebill/Scaup, etc..
Is a Ringbill the same as a Ringneck duck?

Yep, same thing. Just another nickname for shovelers is a smiler. My dad's buddy also calls them Snufilufigus's, kinda like a dinosaur name. He's pretty goofy, that Chris Clasen is. haha

You are correct AL, good one. I forgot about the old merg nickname. ANother for a merg is a mergATROID, NOT mergatron. Slightly different, a robot sounding name as apposed to the dinosaur sounding name.

Where I am from we reffer to ringnecks as Jacks. Other nicknames we commonly throw around goldeneys as whistlers, scaup as blackheads, blackjacks, and broadbills.

yep - a ringneck and a ringbill is the same thing - if u get a more matured ringneck, it will have a dark purpleish ring around the neck, and a white ring on the bill towards the end, and a white ring close to the head

We like to call Wood Ducks, Trouble Ducks, cause of the time they like to buzz our spreads, usually right before legal shooting hours.

Krees, I hear that kevlar nickname on the Goldeneyes. First of all, theyre fast as hell and second they have alot of fat on them and thick feathers so they're really tough to kill dead. Buffleheads seem to be the same way, just even smaller and maybe faster too. You drop those things, and they hit the water and never see them again sometimes. At least thats what happens in open water on the river sometimes. They come down from a hit ready to dive and POOF, theyre gone. Its a real treat when you dump one and it is actually dead.
