Just bought a Benelli Nova, the first shotgun I've had that will shoot 3 1/2" shells, and was wondering if anyone has shot one with and without one of the recoil reducers in the stock. I was looking for some feedback before I spend the $90.

I have two nova's neither has the recoil reducer, I don't think they kick to bad with 3.5"ers but I also shoot a 10 gauge BPS pump, so I may just be conditioned to a little extra recoil  Pattern master on the choke tube.

If the birds are decoying in, like they're supposed to, you can't beat the Patternmaster "Short Range, Over Decoys".

My dad wanted a Nova really bad so I bought him one for his birthday a couple years back. That gun kicks like a mule and it doesn't pump very well. My dad is 60 years old but I still think the gun needs some recoil help. Any suggestions on making the gun pump easier? I lost the warranty papers from when I purchased the gun.

I would go with the pattern master, its an awesome choke.

Not sure what to tell you on the pumping problem, I haven't had any problem with either of mine. Might take it completely apart and give it a good cleanig, I noticed in my black Nova their was a lot of grit and grime from the factory, not the case with my Max-4 nova though, the black one I could hardly get the barrel on it untill I cleaned it. You also might watch him shoot, a lot of guys not used to a 3.5" pump gun will short pump it causing it not to feed a round or to jam.

I bought the Super Nova, has the recoil pad that the SBE II has in it and it kicks a whole lot less than what other people have described about the regular Novas. I love it so far, it also doesn't have the shaky noisey pump either. That is the gun I suggest.

Got one and love it! Did'nt buy the recoil reducer till i shot the 3 1/2'' turkey loads in it, wearing a t-shirt ooouch does hurt a bit.
The recoil reducer takes the bite out of it.

As far as after market choke tubes go... no clue
I've been using the factory mod. tube since i bought the gun seven years ago. No problems yet... smoked ducks @ 50 yards more than once, can't call that luck.. I like my geese a little closer, not that i have'nt shot'em @ 40 yards, I just love to see the look in their eyes when the lids pop open on the blind and they realize their flight has been cancelled

Try the 3 1/2'' Kent Fasteel 1 3/8 BB @ 1550 f.p.s and start giving those birds a dusting like they've never had!!!
