On opening day last weekend some birds came in and we unloaded on them. At some point when my buddy shot his barrel broke on his 1187. He didn't know it until he went to reload his gun and the barrel just fell off. The gun is 7 years old but I'm assuming that no mattter how old a gun is the barrel should not just break and fall off of your gun. It could have been a really bad situation inside our duck blind if he would have had one more shell to shoot. Has anyone ever heard of a barrel snapping?
Note: It was not the end because of being plugged by something, it happened at the end of the shell chamber and begining of the main part of the barrel.

Boy.....your full of them today Rush. Never heard of that happening.....of course heard the stories of the end exploding because of being plugged....I guess I have seen on cracked on the side of the barrell....like a bubble type crack.....but nothing close to that!!!

I've seen a barrell fall off cause the nut wasn't tight enough. I would sent that deal back to Remington and see what may have caused it. That should've never happened.
Hopefully all works out for him.

Never heard of such a thing. Glad to hear nothing happened, you're right could have been a real disaster. I'd definitely be getting it off to Remington and demanding a new gun.

WOW! That would have left a mark if he had a shell left. Definately get a hold of Remington, and see what they have to say. I have never heard of such a thing, if you get a chance post a pic of it, it would be interesting to see.
