:reader[B]The Forest Preserve District of Will County is currently looking into options for managing the skyrocketing deer herd on FPD lands. Please take the time and call or email them to let them know we Illinois Bow Hunters propose managing the land naturally without the use of costly sniper / culling programs. We propose that the FPD considers a managed bow hunting program to control the deer population naturally.

Please feel free to use the attached letter as a template when contacting Will County FPD & the IL IDNR wildlife management bureuea chief

The Forest Preserve District of Will County is required with IDNR oversight to properly manage the deer herd on FPD Lands.

There are currently unnaturally high concentrations of deer (far more per square mile than the FPD lands can support) this over population is starting to have a significant affect on many plant species. The decrease in diverse, edible vegetation affects all wildlife along the entire food chain.

Deer wandering into neighborhood yards for food, damage costly landscaping. Unusually high deer densities also cause an increase in deer-vehicle collisions. Poor diet and frequent animal-to-animal contact increase a deer's susceptibility to CWD and other horrific diseases.

1) What is the Forest Preserve District of Will County proposing in 2009 for the healthy management of the deer herd?

2) Will there be open door discussions in 2009 on this subject?

I am an Illinois Bow hunter and I propose managing the land naturally without the use of costly sniper culling programs. Please consider a managed bow hunting program to control the deer population naturally.

Implemented and managed wisely, a deer bow hunting program can generate income through issuing deer permits to hunters. With severe budget cuts coming in the near future this program can be a positive cash flow for the Forest Preserve District coffers and help resolve the many environmental & habitat concerns caused by deer populations in these Forest Preserve Lands!

Thanks

Some World Record Bucks Roam these woods and in all honesty offer a great opportunity for all Bow hunters of ILLINOIS.:reader
