Rumor has it that hunting this type of weather this late in the season is completely un predictable. Migrations are tough to monitor, but the goose man Tim Grounds expects a migration this weekend, the 14 is the full moon. Typically I do not agree with him on a lot of his stances, but he is an expert in waterfowl hunting, and I can agree with a migration during a full moon.

But back to the point, I'm hunting this weekend, Whether I HEAR that there are birds or not matters not, because they might be here one day and not the next.

From everything I am hearing yes, I haven't seen any up here in a few days, but they are saying and this is not a Typo, 300- 500 thousand birds around carlyle. Trent could probably answer your quwstion better, he lives down their. But from what I am hearing they are still their. I haven't made it down their yet, probably head down next week, hoping to see some Canadas move in  I will probably be hunting snows up north here in the next coup;le of weeks as well. Check out the Illinois page at the refuge, lots of info their, if you can get around the ego's and bs their.

Good luck, and I will do some more snooping to see what I can find out.

Guys, I honestly can't say if the 300-500K is true, i have to think that's wrong, but it's hard to say. I remember a few years ago when we had 300K and it was amazing to say the least. Everywhere you would go there would be destroyed wheat fields, and geese in every other field.

I don't know where this guy is from that he saw snows 30 miles west of Carlyle. That's where I live, and if there are geese, I haven't seen them. Plus they have nowhere to roost
