Got a question. I bought some GHG mallards earlier and got them strung up the other night. When I loaded them into my bag and picked up the two dozen, they were HEAVY. Where I hunt in Southern IL, I have about a twenty to thirty minute hike to my spot, no ATVs allowed. So, my question is if I take the plug out the back and drain the sand will it cause the decoys to sit funny?

You'll probably need to cut the fron and the back off the keel so the water will flow through it to keep them floating right. Just try one and see what happens. Either that or hit the gym....

I'm not sure if they will float correctly or not. I think Kelly is right. If you drain them, you may have to cut the ends so the water flows through them, like a water keel. Not sure though. DO you think that you could keep some of the sand in the keels? THat would probably be the best way. Iowamigr8tor has 2 dozen in a bag and you're right....they heavy as hell. But they do look great. I like the 60/40 keel design alot, except for the weight. NOrmally, we take my boat out anyways though.

My buddy uses carry-lite's for ducks and i have noticed a few of them only have 1 hole in the rear of the keel and they fill up like a soda bottle would. They seem to work alright in the river we hunt from. I would say to try cutting the rear and take it to so moving water to test them. But then again how hard would it be to just cut the front and rear and not worry about it.

If you can't hit the gym, get a wheel barrel to carry them out in  , seriously cut both ends like kelly said, should work out a lot better than just one end.

Funny you mentioned the read wagon. Me, kingkilla, iowamigr8tor, and 2 otehr guys were set up in our boat blinds on shore hunting on Saturday and there were 4 guys that had walked into the marsh. After tehy picked up, they headed towards us heading to their vehicles. They were using one of those freakin red wagon toy wagons!! Needless to say, it wasnt working too good pulling it through sand. Couple of idiots, they did shoot a few ducks though. Not as much as us though :D , but we only killed 6.

I, remember back about 4 years ago, my buddies and i were hunting a
public area.. drawing only.. first time for all of us, neither of us knew what
direction our area was. Finally after walking around for 45 minutes or so
we ran into an older guy, who gave us directions.. get this we were wore out!! After walking through wet grass, and brush with decoys on our backs.
The guy said you boys are working to hard! His advice get a sled like the
one him and his buddy had...
Cabela's carries them... Get the one they advertise to pull behind a quad,
then you have room for blind bags etc. etc. 8)
note: they're made of heavy plastic
