Well boys got my first goose, was out hunting in a cronfield that had been cut, and didnt see any geese, so i walked over to a ditch to take a pee, and a goose took off out of the ditch, and shot it lol...was wondering what it was doing down there. It wasnt wounded, didnt have any pellet marks on the body...fun time though!!

Just because it flew doesn't mean it wasn't wounded. I think sometimes people just knock em senseless. Last weekend we shot one that sailed about 700 yards onto a soccer field. We walked down to pick it up about 2 hours later at the end of our hunt (No guns as it is city limits, and didn't want any trouble). About 15 yards from it, it takes off flying. Flew a half mile straight to the river. I would bet money that someone sailed that one and it just stayed there.

None the less. A Goose is a Goose! CONGRATULATIONS!

Congrats on your first goose. Don't let the guest take anything away from it with his post.

Congrats on the Goose- Gunner! :D

"Congrats on your first goose. Don't let the guest take anything away from it with his post.

Jeff "

I didn't see that as taking anything away from it. I think the statement was that a ditch is not a normal place to find a goose. Are you disagreeing?

I don't disagree that the ditch is not normal, I just don't see it neccessary to take away from his first goose by pointing out that it was probably a cripple. You do what you want and say what you want, I am just happy that he achieved taking his first goose.

just my opinion.

I think back to some of my first pheasant and quail hunts with dad when I was 10. He would yell "That one got up at your feet! Why didn't you shoot?!?!?!?" At the time I was checking to see if I needed to draw's! I can only imagine what would happen if a goose jumped out in front of me.

Congrats!

Congrats Goose-gunner! Thats awesome. You should try decoying them. They look like a damn airplane when theyre coming in they so big. Tough to miss them if you keep calm while theyre approaching.
