This is a little off subject from the waterfowl scene, but just curious how many of you guys get out there and do some predator hunting or trapping. Got to help out the turkey populations! Lets see some pics or here some stories. Here is some pics of our first coon hunt of the year, ended up with 10, a pretty good night.

King, I talked to a few good 'ol boys down at my dads that had been doing some coon trapping/hunting. They said that big coon furs were running about $15 a piece. They said they had been averaging about $12 a piece for the size of coons they had been gettting. So 10 would be $120.

rushcreek, you're looking at the dogs. We generaly don't run dogs we just shine them, and suprisinly have very good luck doing it. Last year we didn't hunt a whole lot and killed around 70 coons. My buddy had a new hound last year, but he died on him. Hopefully one of us will be getting another one sometime soon. We always shin out all the coons and sell the hides. A good coon around here this year I think is going to average about $8.

isnt that against the law to carry a gun and shine at the same time, At least in wisconsin it is.

I don't have any pics but this year over the spring and summer while we are groundhog hunting we got 16 red tail fox and 3 coyotes. It was the best year for that in a long while. You wouldn't believe the mess a 7mm RUM makes of a fox. HEHEHE
