Does anyone tune their calls for different situations. Example hunting over water then going to a field. I have a couple of calls and was just wondering if I should tune them for different hunting situations, and if so should I tune calls for over water low & fields high. What do you guys do if anything.

I don't retune my calls any different, I just have multiple calls. I tune my SMH a little higher and my MC lower, you can change the tone some by the way you blow them too.

My suggestion would be for you to have a double reed Timber Rattler for timber type conditions or just any hole where you may not need to get after 'em w/ the high stuff. A double reed legend would also be a wise choice. Then I would go w/ a single reed SMM for those open water areas and to be able to get on those migrators w/ the high ball!

Never even thought about the duck thing, I will have to hook up with you Jason, and your crew and have you learn me to call ducks, I have allways concentrated on geese, and relied on my buddy to call ducks.

I agree with migrator00. A timber rattler for situations where you dont need a whole lot of volume. A SMM is better if ya want some volume. But I have a SMM and you can actually get pretty quiet on it if you practice. I can make very soft quacks with it. I think its a pretty versatile call. I am gonna buy a double reed TR before duck season next year though. Kingkilla just got one and even he sounds alright on it!! I dont tune my calls different though. I try not to mess with them at all unless I have to clean them.
