I'm thinkin about starting a guide service that focuses on divers and swans in the north eastern part of North Carolina. And I was wondering if you guys would have any intrest or even be willing to pay to shoot swans and divers.

Divers? Personally, I shoot plenty of them on the Mississippi with my dad? Swans? I would love to shoot a swan for sure. That would be awesome!

If we get 1 in Va. we have to stop what your doing, fill out the tag, wrap the tag on the leg and then notify whomever needs to be notified. Kind like a deer but without having to make a call. As far as decoys, we use swan decoys, put maybe 2-3 out and hope for the best. Last year my guide got 4 people to shoot 4 of them.

Hey kingkilla, yes you do need to have a swan tag but there not to hard to get. all you have to do is enter in a drawing for state residance and whats left over is for out of state residance.

Richie, I do use swan decoys made from trash bags and white poles and yes swans are that stupid and will decoy to that. Only if they feel confidant to do so.

Justin,
What part of NC are you from? I use to guide in Hertford Co. I have killed many swans down there. They are a beautiful birds, however they are dumb, and they fold up really easy. LOL Shoot me a e-mail or something, i still have some pretty good places down that way.

Tripp,
I currently live in chapel hill, but not becouse I chose to be, my parents sent me theree for the school systems, but I am origanly from swan quarter and used to hunt lake mattamuskeet and the pamlico sound but all my old contacts have eather mooved, died or just stoped pickin up the phone so finding prime swan feilds has become a strugle yet I have managed to find 2 feilds about 1 mile long by 2 miles wide and there between new lake and lake mattamuskeet. If you know any any good places feel free to speak up.

I have eaten swan before. Its all on how you cook it. We breasted one and put it through a meat tenderizer and the grilled it, it was some of the best fowl I have every eaten.

I'm just heard that swan tastes somewhere in between very bad and horrible and has the consistancy of an old tire....
