Hey guys just had a question for those of you having any experience with GHG full body mallards. Derek (Iowamigr8tor) and Al (Kingkilla) were hunting a cornfield Saturday morning with me and derek's dozen full body mallards and they said that their heads were shining really bad in the sun. They even think that maybe the heads were flaring the geese. They said that from far away, the heads looked like a plastic mountain dew bottle. Has anyone else had any experience with their heads shining? We are thinking about getting the flocked heads for them. Im not bashing GHG at all, just curious. Whata ya think?

yeah the hot buy floaters with a little frost first thing when the sun gets up good tend to be a little on the shiny side but theres nothing you can do but flock um

I've thought about flocking mine, but I don't think they've ever flared any birds. Nice greenheads kind of do have a shine to their heads in the sun. Maybe the decoys shine more though, but I've never seen the dekes from a distance in the sun.

Killer Miller its funny you brought that up we were out 2 weekends ago and had just bought 2 dozen and we also noticed that they were quite shinny. I did however not notice too much flaring from the ducks. Dont know about how the geese as we cant hunt geese for 11 more days. Point being we got online and ordered the Flocked Full Body Mallard Drake Heads from Macks Prarie Wings. We have 16 drakes and 8 hens so we went ahead and orderd 16 Flocked Drake heads. We noticed a huge difference. We actually wanted to do a test so we left one of the drakes without the flocked heads and we noticed a huge difference. So I guess my point is it is worth it. Hope this helps.

Yeah me and iowamigr8tor have a dozen in between us, so 8 drakes, 4 each. What are the heads running? I think like $15 for 4 right? Yeah we'll probably go ahead and do it. Its not much money and they said the heads were shining really bad in the morning and evening sun especially. Thanks mauler.

Sounds like it's worth trying. We've never notice the dekes shining that bad though. Course we don't have a lot of sunny days during late fall and winter but anything to keep birds from flaring.

Mauler, actually we have a dozen between us so only 8 drakes total. So $30 and we're good to go. My uncle just bought a harvester pack from Mack's. It has 2 sleepers, 2 resters, 4 feeders, and 4 actives with a 12 slot bag. SO that'll help our duck field spread too.
