View Full Version : chokes
I'm new to all the chokes for my shotgun. I was wondering what does everbody reccommend for a good choke for a 870 pump remington shots 3 1/2 inch and a Bennelli that shot 3 1/2 inch also. I know there are many kinds but was has worked for you for an all around choke for waterfowl hunting over water and fields for ducks and geese. Thanks guys for you time.

Patternmaster. I use the "Short Range-Over Decoys" model, which I hear is the best if you wait until the birds decoy in. Kinda the way this sport is supposed to be done.
I think the "Standard" model is the most popular and possibly more applicable if you take an occasional pass shot from further distances. NOT "Sky-Busting".
I'm happy with mine.

I would get the patternmaster extended, it is designed for the 3 1/2" shells. Killer Miller shoots the standard and I shoot the extended and we both just pound um'! Lets put it this way, this weekend we were hunting a field, I had shot my geese so I put duck loads in, 3 inch 4's, had a goose get crippled and still was flying popped up and he was about 40yds+ and it delivered the necessary pattern to ground the bird. I dont like to let cripples get away! If you want to see the results of a patternmaster to the head of a goose, just look at the goose Im holding in the "Field of Dreams" thread. Hope this helps.
