Anyone ever here of these calls. R.w. Eterton out of st. louis. A older huntin buddy of mine had one on his wall and I liked it so he gave it to me this year. I thought it was a decoration but he said his father gave it to him before he died in the 70s, and they used to use these big calls back in the day. The call had guts but my niece and nephew got ahold of it and lost the guts. I googled it but cant find nothin on these calls any info would help. thanks

just a book about antique decoys and calls, it's mostly centered on the decoys but it has a general overview of calls and history. But it mainly deals with well known calls and decoys, the lesser known ones you need specific books or reference materials for. You may try looking for books about missouri waterfowl history and see if there is an obscure reference out there that would have it. Here in NE we have a magazine called nebraskaland thats put out by the game and parks commission and it'll have a lot of interesting stuff in it. I have an issue saved with my decoy books that has a listing of all the major decoy makers that produced a significant amount of decoys in nebraska. Helps you out in your niche collecting market. If you're in to that sort of thing, that is.
I thought I had read somewhere once about Giant calls like that that someone made that actually worked, but I can't remember where I read it and who made them.
