Hey I just started snow goose hunting with a guy I met at school. He's got about 300 rags and silo dekes, and I don't have anything. I don't have much $$ to spend on dekes, so I put together 100 white garbage/shopping bags that are filled with newspaper.
Will it help to add this to his spread, or am I just hurting our chances since it's not as realistic? Thanks...

ive seen people kill with white trash bags alone so its not impossible. Also kinda depends on if its the young juvies (stupid) birds that are moving thru or the older birds. The spread setup is also a big part of the attraction.

u can use about anything white..only thing about most trash bags is that they shine real bad..id give them a quick spray with flat white paint just to break up the glare a bit..

If you want to go the cheapest way and kill a few birds, then buy some of the sport plast shells. They are cheap and they don't look to bad.You will find that the rags/bags are loud and it will be very hard to get them to decoys. You are doing the same thing that I did years ago when I 1st started out and it was such a pain in the ass to watch birds drop down to 100 yards or so then just keep flying just to land about a mile away. Also you should make a cheap e-caller and you can do it for about 125.00 or so out of an mp3 player, horn speaker, and a small amp. If want more help PM me.

You can make an ecaller for less than 55. And that is with a cheap $20 MP3 player.
check the ohms on speakers and amps. Modern technology is great!

We have just been using a "boombox" with a burnt CD... where can you buy a horn speaker at? I saw some on the i-net that look like they connect to a boombox

depends on how much money you want to spend. Radio shack has them for 35 and 50 I believe. It's been a year since I checked.
I think I paid $9 for mine.

One more question... where can I get a bunch of corregated plastic? Like old election signs maybe? Would a courthouse or politicians have a bunch of old ones stored away?
