I've had decent luck this year, nothing huge, but a few nice sets. Look at the NASHC website at www.shedantlers.org for more shed hunting information/great pictures.

be careful, i'm not sure if it's a statewide law, but i learned the hard way that you cannot remove shed antlers from cook county forest preserves. I had a 85" side relieved from my posession 3 years ago.

I have heard the same thing about shed huting on public land. But like you it was cook county property, tons of goofy rules.

Trust me I know the roads where you can walk out with 15 horns with you and I know the roads that you have to stash them in the woods and drive your truck up to them and get them.... we've played that game with a lady at a nature park... needless to say she couldn't run as fast i could!!

And lake county is even worse, don't even think about going into forest preserves around barrington/hoffman estates area. They'll be on your ass as soon as you're observed walking off of designated trails.

I went out today and in the back of our lot I found a deer that was killed by some coyotes. Very interesting considering it was extremely injured 4 days ago when I saw it

i still see more with then without horns , we had 2 good days when the snow was melted then it snowed again . i might get out this week end. %90 of the ones we get are around peoples bird feeders . just gotta get to them before they refill the feeder

I texted Joel yesterday and he said his dad and him have found 199 sheds already this year. He said they found a matched set of a main frame 12 point that scored 205 inches giving it an 1 inch spread. So it was probably even a little bigger on the deer because the spread was more than likely wider than 18 inches.

Southern Iowa and only southern Iowa. Joel's dad, Kurt, is a waterfowl guide and leases tons of land. They also guide deer and turkey hunts so they lease land for that as well.
Awesome Pics! Keep em coming!
This is something I have always tried, but never have had any luck at it.
I've read the articles on hotspots, etc. I ran into a guy the other day out by my work I saw walking along the road and he had so many damn sheds that he was having trouble carrying them. He was finding them all along a big fenceline...I can't figure if its from the deer jumping the fence and they fall off or if they purposely come up and knock em off?
