I have shot two of these now. The one a few years ago had a body that looked nearly like a hen, but had a green head.
This is the one from this year. It is not as dramatic as the first one but definitely is not a normal green head.
Anyone seen another one like this and have any idea why it looks this way?

A few of my buddies have shot those before.

I also shot this bird this past fall. Almost looks like the body shape of a pintail, long and thin.

That part under the wing of the first two pictures almost looks like it was crossed with a wood duck.

Late season hatch of mallards ,still have some brown showin thru. Shot a few and that is what I always thought they where. Also early mallards some are still in eclipse not all colored out yet. The one Killer Miller has posted in bottom pic in middle is a pin/mallard cross. Also know as a mule duck in some places!!
