Check out the Sony Handycam. I got mine for $249. Mini dv, touch screen, good sound, great zoom. But it all depends on what your looking for. I do not suggest a dvd cam. They have a problem with batteries getting drained to fast. The best thing I can say is go on bestbuy.com or amazon.com and compare prices. Look at the reviews they help a lot.

I have a HD sony handycam and love it. Takes really good video and the new ones are easy for making dvds. go to www.sonystyle.com

If you want a good professional camera thats just not one of the new HD's I would go with the Canon XL1's. You should be able to pick up a used one for around $1,500. Before alot of the shows switched to HD, this was the most popular camera on the market, and was the camera of choice for the Drury outdoors gang, and some of them still used it as of last year.

I know you said for not alot of money but compared to the new HD Cameras that most of the shows are filming with, this isn't alot of money. Just don't drop it from your treestand, my camera is being fixed right now for $835, my safety strap that I keep hooked to my camera broke when I was climbing down, it wasn't a very pretty site watching it bounce off of tree limbs.

Keep an eye on Craigslist. Otherwise, a Handy Cam will do pretty good. The steadier you are, the better the footage will be. Tri-pod or a great rest.

There are a few Canon cameras on Craigslist that are less than $1500.
