Hi,

Well I ordered 1/2 dozen sleepers from Rogers Sporting Goods. Everybody was right GREAT SERVICE!. We talked about ways I can save on shipping for the goose decoys I want to order.. WHAT STORE DOES THAT! AWESOME!

Anyways.. the sleepers were not packed well.. I'm not sure if this is normal when shipping decoys.. I've never order any online before and haven't bought a decoy in over 10 years LOL!

A few were loose in the box and seem to have some paint damage. I was wondering if anybody would bother sending them back or not. I can't decide. So here some pictures please offer your opion if you would return them.

what brand of decoys are they?

They will do that after the first time you cram them in a decoy bag. Paint is wearing off the ridges of the decoys.

I think you will be fine. If a duck can see that... well you know the rest.

my ghg's came out of the box like that too...not every mallard is perfect so i didnt worry too much.

the crappy part is that i called avery/ghg and they dont sell replacement paint cause in comes from china and it doesnt meet standards to be allowed in the country  lead based i'm guessing.

Yeh they are GHG's

It's not so noticeable from 8 - 10 feet away.

They do look awesome tho :)

My hopes are that these combined with low heads and feeders are going to give my new spread the confidence to pull in these mallards in my area that HAMMERED by skybusters from the day the season opens to the first freeze LOL!

I've been thinking of gettins some full bodies as well for the shallow water but I've always been told that ducks do not want to come close to the reeds because they are used to be pounded from blinds in the reeds..

Thanks guys :) I'm not gonna send them back.. I tend to be picky with my stuff and your right..if a ducks notices that I cooked anyways LOL!

if you want to you might want to try calling GHG if that is the brand that they are cuz i bought a box of the ghg bufflehead decoys and a box of the ghg goldeneye decoys and there was one in each box that was messed up so i called them up and they sent me a new goldeneye and a new bfflehead. but i did also have a box of mallards that the paint was scratched up a little but i did't bother calling them but it is worth a try, hope this helps

when the duck can see it should be to late

I might be wrong here, but is that not the way they texture them to get that look.......It looks good, the ripples wearing adds texture to the color rathe then being solid grey............heres my new Sleeper too, they look exactly the same more or less

You would be surprised what a string of plain old white milk jugs will do on water set up a jerk string as a bonus. I wouldn't even worry about your decoys.

That is how GHG greenheads come.... for feather detail. I have the resters that are just like it.

I bought some GHG mallard decoys and the first time they went into the decoy bag and came back out the paint was wore off so I wouldn't be to worried about it

Both - my sleeper floaters and my rester fullbodies. Don't worry about it

I forgot to add, but my GHG OS canvasback, bluebill and buffie deeks all are that same way for feather detail

Cool thanks every one :)

I also have these waiting for me to pick up

2 dozen GHG Life Size Mallards
4 No-Head Feeder Mallards
2 Mallard Butts
2 Sleeping Black ducks

Oh and 2 Baby Mojo's but i'm not convince these are worth it since I noticed no increase in commitment from the birds but it was mid season when I got them so basically just used them on resident birds.

Should be a good set up this year.

I'm planning on building a flock of geese as well.....

where abouts are you located? if you get black ducks think about adding quite a few as they are an AWESOME confidence decoy to mix with your mallards and they stay just as late in the season as the greenheads will.

I don't see many black ducks. Only the odd one so I thought it would be good to mix in a couple..

I may pick up a pair of GHG Lifesize black ducks as well :)

if you dont see many i wouldnt invest alot of money in them. get the species you see so your spread has realism. where i hunt now we dont see black ducks so i dont even put em out. if your gonna add geese they'll give you at least as much visibility as the dark ducks would.

Don't worry about it, before long the rest of the paint will be flaking off!!!

I think your right on the texture because all my GHG mallards looked like that out of the box. The only decoy that I had an issue with was the GHG GW teal, the flat black on the bills was comming off but I didn't bother calling them just bought some paint an touched them up. There ringnecks and bluebills can take a tonne of abuse though, hunt Lake Erie alot for divers and throw them all over the rock's and still NO chips or scratches.

Well I gotta say I'm impressed with the color schema even if they turn out to be a little fragile.

I have a small stream behind my house that holds mallards in the spring... I carried a drake sleeper out with me and put it in the water while airing my dog. HAHAHA!

There were a few mallards we spooked off but they came back and man
I think you'd be hard pressed to get the color any closer.. truely awesome.

I think I'm gonna take the decoy to a paint or hardware store and see if they can come up with a recipe for the colors... for touch ups when they show some wear.
