I was pretty proud of myself this past holiday, being out by myself and getting birds to really look at my set up, especially since I only had 12 shells out :D I thought maybe it was just me but I couldnt get the birds to committ, had several flocks circle me and really want to land but they all stayed jsut out of shooting range. I spoke to some other guys in the area and they seem to be having trouble as well, and I respect these guys becasue they allways kill birds. Anyone else Having this trouble?>????>

Just my opinion, well start with where are you hunting, are there a lot of people hunting in your Area.....its already a week into the Season, and most of the Birds have a PHD by now, still arent a lot of migrators here yet, and the locals are smarter than you think, remember your putting out 12 shells, and most are hunting large setups, so these birds have seen a lot already, just my $.02, but hey lemme know if you need some help i gotta dozen shells, we could get up, make the Spread 2 Dozen, and have a better shot, shoot me a PM if your interested.....

Well I have been hunting around townsend, and the spot I have been hunting has not been hunted to hard and the other guys I talked to use larger set ups. The birds I have had come in really wanted to land, I had a flock of 18 circle me 5 times and they really wanted to land but something bothered them, I dont know. I have had quite a few smaller flocks come in, circle two or three times and then go off. I just dont know!

Well im in middletown, are you hunting public or private, like i said shoot me a PM if you dont wanna go out by yourself again, 24 decoys is better than 12, and 2 callers are better than one.......and 2 people=4bird bag limit......just an idea you know....PS how old are you if you dont mind me askin.....

This has been a very frustraighting start of the new season. The migrators have left three weeks ago. theres no new birds and the ones that are here are hanging out with local birds on there flight paths. The weather is rediculess and its not like were not seeing birds it is that they have there own plan and it not cold enough to make them move around. Then you got all the retards that hunt the big fresh water marshes shooting at them all day long and not letting them get to there roost. I hunt on private land and i feel really sorry for the state hunters because half of there blinds have been wiped out by the storms and people have stole all the grass from the blinds. Sorry but im just venting.

you guys have 1 or 2 bad days and you think its your set up or your deks or this or that. Stop wyyyyyynnnnning.. You go and dont kill a limit and then complain. Or you go out and and dont even see a bird. But you just dont get it. Next time try to do it for the EXPERIENCE. This may sound like I am being harsh but Iam not , listen to your call, [ what can you change to sound better] Pay more attention to what your doing than what you should have done. P.S I only hunted 8 Big Feet for the first half , and killed a limit every time i went out.

cant figure out this weather, is this global warming or what, freaking end of november and still seeing 60 degree days, we shoulda had snow on the ground or at least some flurries or something, this is the first year i wanted winter to get here sooner, and it seems like Fall doesnt wanna leave.....kinda sux, but great for yard work.....ewww. i cant believe i even said that......anyways.......hope this season warms up soon, and im not talking about the weather....

I had the same problem here in PA, went out last sat. put out all my geese(about 50) and was hunting by myself by some big water. Had flocks of at least 75 to 100 come right over me and nothing. I'm not complaining, thats why its hunting. But like you said SCOUT, it was a good experience for me since i was at a new spot and havn't seen many geese in a week or so i was proud that i could flag and call these geese from a good mile or more away. I think a few more deeks, calls and they might have been shooters. But anyway i am hoping more geese start moving into the area or the whole east coast is gonna be lowsy for shootin.

My season sucks too. Not many ducks to speak of, and like you, geese that don't want to commit to a good spread. Early resident was outstanding. I should have quit there. This 60 degree weather doesn't help either. And I don't think it's too much to ask for a limit day once in a while.
same here in MI killed limits first two weeks !!!!!! mostly locals now nothins comin in my quacker season started oct 7th yet to kill another quaker since

I am not complaining, in post post I said I was pretty proud of myself for getting these birds to look at me, I enjoy my self everytime I go out and learn somehting new each time, I would just like to shoot at a bird sometime, havent done that since last year! At least I am not the only one having trouble. DropEmInDe I hunt private land, just recently got a small field to hunt, myself and two others have permission to hunt, primarly for deer but it has a small low spot that fills with water and we planted food plots this year, have about 6 acres of timothy hay also. It should look real good to the birds once it gets cold, its about 3 inches right now and BRIGHT green.

I think im speaking for the rest of us Delaware hunters when i say You try hunting where we hunt and then come taik to us. As far as my calling its fine and i would be happy if i could get a duck to decoy properly instead of pass shooting. the birds just seem scared. there flying really high you would think there snow geese  It has nothing to do with the set up. Im using GHG Mallards and geese which i think are the best decoys looking on the market. Yopu can not compare birds from where your at to here.

Personally i think, everywhere in DE is having trouble, the ducks arent real thick in the marshes like they were 3-4 weeks ago, and the geese arent real heavy anymore, i think its having everything to do with the weather, up north and down here....its just too warm, the birds arent gonna travel south if its not cold, and its FReakin NOT COLD, im looking at my outside thermometer right now, and it says 63 in the shade, come on, it freakin November 30th, the day before the last month of the year and it 60+ degrees outside, just like them old retirees that migrate to florida every year for this kinda weather, whats the sence in travaling when the weather here is what youll be traveling to, doesnt make any sence but thats why its called hunting not killing.....its all about going for me, if i get up early, go setup and lay in a field all morning doesnt matter to me if i pull the trigger or not, its the fact that im laying in a field, the fact that i setup decoys, that i cleaned my calls out, that i actually got up early for a change, thats what its all about, the birds are just a bonus, and being able to talk to them, is what its all about, and the reward is being part of a sport that so many people share interest in, and its what we love to do........personally thats all that matters to me, i cant speak for everyone on the forum, but im sure most feel the same way...............and like i said.....you even not wanna go out by yourself, feel free to gimme a shout....id love to come setup with ya, and mybe shoot some birds, or maybe just lay in the field...enjoy this wonderfully crappy weather we are having....anyways...thats just me............

In the last day or so I have been seeing more and more geese either moving in to my area or they are just moving on through, so maybe you guys should see more geese in the coming days especially since this nasty front is coming. They are getting colder weather in the James bay area so those geese will maybe push out and be on their way.

we had trouble on tuesday and wednesday of thanksgiving week not killing our limits but on thursday n friday we killed our limits both in the AM and PM. with friday being the best as we hunted a spread of about 200-300 decoys and we had prolly over 1000 on the ground in our spread. decided not to shoot as we would educate way to many birds and only needed one bird to fill our limit. so we let them do there business n leave when they wanted to. needless to say it was hard but not hard. BUT the only reason it was hard for us cuz we were hunting with the wind pretty much blowing directly in our face. NOW if it was blowing at our back trust me we would have been around the 100-150 bird mark in 4 days. instead we only got 74. but its alright we will make up for lost time when it reopens the 16th of december. by the way i hunt in Elkton, MD but do hunt at the thousand acre marsh in DE so i know how the ducks are right now and there insanely hard to get to decoy unless its 25mph+ wind. which is why im hunting dec 1st friday evening. really strong wind n thunderstorms but i will kill some ducks. but good luck to the rest of ya and post up on how ya do.

Only good thing is when the season comes back in me and the bosses son are gonna go for a few hours on the sat's I gotta work this month! Maybe I will have a little better luck! Also thinking about trying to hunt a few small state fields in back of clayton in the afternoons later this month, my next door neigbor knows a few decent spots that are first come first serve.
