Did anyone else see this, they are closing 23 stores. And one is the only one around me, this sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We don't have any by us, but its a shame to hear about any business closing its doors in this ****ty economy.
I wonder what kind of sales they are going to run??

they are closing 2 within 20 min of me in the next 60 days. Really sux and makes buying products in last min situations very inconvenient for me now, unless I want to pay overnight charges from other retailers. Heard they were selling 13 more stores to a Canada based company also. True bummer!!!! :(

It's a shame that this is happening to so many companies. There are several near me that are affected by this. It's a bummer.
I'll be shopping at KrugerFarms.Com regardless.

its just sad to see a place you've put work into to help ppl , build a product line, and respect from owners, managers, and employees gone with the blink of an eye. I haven't been doing this as long as a lot of you other prostaffers, but its stressful to see these kinds of things happen. The convenience part is what really has me pondering on opening a small outdoor's store....Its good to dream! .

$12-$15 to ship a call is insane! IMO...It's a great store, they have almost everything!
that really sucks ! the nearest one to me is pittsburg , about 2 hours or a little less, but i'd go there before cabela's or bass pro ! they always had a bunch of waterfowl gear ! alot more then any place around me that i know of .

You and me both!!!
I'd like to open up a store that has hundreds of custom calls, just so I know everyone that comes in could get a call that fits them perfectly. A waterfowl only store, personable, something with summer classes for kids, to help them learn the sport and everything that goes into it.
But, doesn't seem like a feasible option, A pipe dream perhaps... 8)
I do like the Kruger Farms plug though Jeff. :D SUBTLE

My store in Fargo is turning into a UFA Co-op? WTF is that? I guess now when I go to pick up a new call, I get calving supplies instead.
This is really too bad. It was the best sporting goods store we had for waterfowling.

Where do you find out which stores are being affected by this? Just wondering if I'll have to take a trip to one in my state.

Wow. So they get rid of both in Wisconsin, all 3 in Minnesota, and the one in Indiana?! That leaves Iowa as the closest to me...That's a shame. At least I have 3 Cabelas that I'm frequently nearby, but their employees don't know jack about waterfowling.

After seeing the money they are putting into sponsorship at the ISE, no wonder they are closing stores :D . On the good side of it, I guess they are getting the name out there. They had signs and booths everywhere . Giving away gift cards, sponsoring water dogs, archery tournament, and outfitters. Now I am by no means an expert in sponsors and money but it looks like they have alot invested in this type of stuff. Any input on this?

They smoke the Basspro here. Our Basspro is 20 mins away and i drive 1 1/2 hours to SW to get what i need. Thier staff are awesome and they carry the brands that i like. Luckily ours is staying open!

the one here in IN started liquidation today and is set to close at an undisclosed date in May it really sucks cuz I don't have anything else close...Gander Mtn. a hour away, Cabelas is almost 2 hours, and I've never been to the Bass Pro in IN so I don't know how far it is....the problem with ours is that they don't have anything worth a crap to liquidate except some decoys

ours has an awesome gun selection, and a pretty nice waterfowl section. We are gonna be lucky to get away with some ankle gaters after the liquidators come through!

I went to SW in Fargo today looking for liquidation sales and found nothing. I asked the manager when they were closing and he looked at me like I was on crack. I said I read online that they were being sold to UFA Co-op. He said they already were UFA. Apparently UFA is just an umbrella. It's still SW only he said that now they have twice as many suppliers so they can get anything you want and faster. Looks like it was a good thing for the northern stores that got sold, but it still sucks that the economy has come to this.

we were initially told that this was what was going to happen to ours and then like 2 weeks later I got our stores monthly e-letter in my email and it said they were being liquidated and would be closing in mid-May....I went yesterday and it was crazy busy in there and right now the sales are 5-30% off w/ exceptions bein on knives, firearms, and ammunition...their calls are just 10% and they don't have any good Foiles calls...it sucks cuz now I'm gonna have to drive an hour to get stuff or order online...it really puts a damper on emergency situations when it was nice to have a SW 10 minutes from home.
