Killer Miller

Well I got a call Wednesday night from a buddy while I was at work that he had gotten word the juvies had showed up in Mound City and everyone was puttin' it on em. It was short notice, but my buddy Jamey got us lined up with a guide for the next day. I've been snow goose hunting my whole life in SE Iowa with my dad, uncle, and a bunch of other guys. I've been around it alot, but there's been fewer and fewer snows coming through there each spring. IMO, it's due to the lack of 'good' refuges. The refuges along the Mississippi River are just that, along the river. They aren't a very good resting area....moving water. I had never been to Mound City until Thursday. If you're a waterfowler, you owe it to yourself to go down there at one time or another in your life. Non-stop snows moving all day.....going to and from fields and Squaw literally all day. I realize that it isn't always like this, but this was the case on Thursday. Lots of juvies.....and ross geese, which always make it fun as they start diving almost like mallards do coming to a freshly cut corn field. Here's some pics of one of the two tornadoes we were under during the trip, some other misc. pics and the hero pics of course. Our guide got photos with all of us in the photo with the birds. I'll post them when I get the email.
