Strait Meat slaughter.....

Went to D&J today and got in on the slaughter up there. It is just stupid with ducks right now...they are there by the thousands. Hunted with Bryan McMurtrie, Tim McGowan, and Paul Sawyer from the Knock 'em Down boys...and i'm tellin you it was on. We didn't hunt till noon and we were killed out on mallards by 12:45. Shot 'em up all day. Finally ran out of people to call to come fill their limits!! Kelly and Travis seem do be doin' their westernwingshooter name proudly. Should be some awesome pics. If i'm adding correct...something like 274 ducks in like 2 days. Anyway..i'm gonna soak this up cause who knows how long these birds are stayin' w/ all this snow cover. Watched about 10 to 15 thousand right at dark lookin for a place to eat. Anyway...hopefully climb back on it again tomorrow!! (Bunch of birds are hidden by the old folks in the middle :) )

I swear i live in the wrong place. I keep on playing that damned powerball so i can move west, but for some reason i just can't win. I think i have a better chance at shooting ducks here than winning. Anyway...........good job on them ducks guys.........keep on stackin...

I'm only a few hour plane ride away.....I smashed the geese on Saturday myself....

I was done in less than an hour....no bands this trip though....I'm hoping to put the hurt on some ducks this week....

Finally got home, I'll put up a full update later.

I think the 3 day total was around 320 ducks and a few geese. Saturday was slow on the ducks. We only hunted the afternoon in 2 pits and killed about 35 or so.

I got 1 banded greenhead, Jeff said it was the first banded duck killed in there since 2002.

I want to thank Jeff, Tim, Big Sean, Denny and the rest of the guys out there for all the fun. It was a blast and I dont think some people understand how much work goes into that club. We spent alot of time changin out batteries, working on pumps, fueling and cleaning the clubhouse and pits. Breaking ices was a 4 hour job Saturday. It was all worth it in the end. :lol:

I'm heading out this Thursday to northern Illinois for a hunt as well....I hope we get on'em like you guys.....
