i have both the avery finisher blind and the wildfowler blind, i use my wildfowler more than my avery, its more comfotable, sets up faster and is lower profile than my avery, the only down fall is it doesnt fold up as small as the avery plus its about $60.00 bucks less than avery

For durability and comfort go with a FA Brand XLandr. I've had some since the first year they came out and have never had an issue. Low profile, comfortable and light.

Using the FA eliminator blind, Nice blind but kinda big and bulky. Still does the job though.

I've only used a finisher. It's on its last year but I'll probably go with another blind. The only complaint I have with the finisher is it is uncomfortable to me. It's pretty durable though. My buddy ran over mine last year and it didn't mangle it up too much. Only broke one bar at the bottom. If you can go to a store and try different ones out. Pick the one that you like best. Just my opinion.

Two blinds come to mind right away....the Final Approach S.U.B. (Sport Utility Blind) and the X'Land-r. The SUB is bit bigger and offers a bit more room inside the blind than the X'Land-r. It's profile is also a bit taller. Overall, a very roomy and comfortable blind, but doesn't fold down to something conducive for a walk-in hunter.

The X'Land-r on the other hand is the cat's meow!!!! Only 14" tall...lowest profile out there....that I am aware of. Super comfortable and warm (3/4" foam all the way around...if you hunt cold weather, this baby rules 8) ). The blind fold basically in half, but has actual padded backpack straps (not just nylon straps imitating backpack straps). This blind is, by far, my go to blind 99% of the time!!!! Super easy to set-up, take down, pack in/out, and it is VERY comfortable.

You have already gotten the best advice from one above....go to your local sporting goods retailer and crawl in /out / aourn every blind they have there. Find out what you like and what you don't and make your decision ONLY after trying all the blinds available. I just provided a little personal insight to how I view the binds above. You need to make this decision all on your own brother!!!!!

i have had both a finisher and an sub. the finisher wasnt bad but my headrest kept popin out. the finisher did fold up smaller than the sub but overall i cant really tell a huge diff in the two. i had them layed out side by side and both were pretty close to the same profile height. if your lookin for a store thats got a bunch u can try out go to gateway outfitters in st charles. stay on 70 like your goin to bass pro but dont get off at bass pro. youll go up to the truman blvd/cave springs exit. take a right on the service road by bob schultz and itll be on your left. it used to be dunns sporting goods but i think its a 100 times better now all kinds of waterfowl stuff and especially a ton of foiles calls.

Roomiest
Eliminator, Avery Migrator, Gooseview Destroyer
drawback you need a truck to haul these and they suck if you have to walk in
Plus if you hunt often and long these bad boys are roomy and comfy

Lowest Profile
Avery Power Hunter, X-Lander what people never say is in th erain these blinds make for a long day compared to some of the others. BUT the view of working geese out of both of these blinds is the best. both blinds lay on you so you can't put video camera, shells shotgun in the blind with you and "hunker down" in bad rain or snow or wind.

All Around
Finisher and SUB I leave my Finsher cornstubbled all year and it has the snow cover and neotub readlily available I fit all of my gear in the blind with me behind headrest and on the sides (along with 3457 empty hulls and 12 coffee cups). Before I had my truck I could throw my finisher in my Jetta and meet my buddies after work to hunt if I wasn't packing dekes. The SUB was originally marketed at the Finisher but it doesn't fold up as small for hauling and packing in and it is an absolute bear to set up for the average guy the first time.

Wild Card
Only one I haven't hunted out of is the Air Controller....I'd lilketo check one of those bad boys out.

I am looking to add a few more and am considering the Power Hunter for the ability to follow birds as they circle and go undetected or and Migrator since I have unlimited space now. The Air Controller to if I could fins someplace that carries it.

I have a final approach SUB. Plenty of room but a little bulky to carry around. Very comfortable though.

I have 5 layout blinds.

I use alot of top of the line stuff and my layout blind of choice is the cheesy, cheezy light wieght Cabela's interceptor.

I have modified it by taking out the lower bar (gunrest) and do not fasten the lower pins in the door frames and gunrest.

I have also added a layer of armor flex foam on the floor of the blind.

Light, Low, comfy.

I have 3 layout blinds. Cabelas, Finisher, and X'Landr. Personally I don't like the Finisher. That's just me though. I think the best blind for looks comfort and durability is the X'Landr HANDS DOWN THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!! You won't be disappointed with it.

the finisher wasnt bad but my headrest kept popin out.

had the same problem, and it was cause the back rest was too tight, and all 150 pounds of me were putting pressure on the back rest. just my 2 cents. so try and loosin the two straps on the back of the back rest.

but final approach blinds are sweet. iowamigr8er has a eliminater i think and it is very roomy and very comfortable, but the downside is that it is that it is 7 ft long.

also does anyone have a heated back rest for the avery finishers? are they good?

Have mostly used the xlandr and had no problems it seems to be more comfortable than some of the other ones.

I'm going to go off the chart. I use a blind made buy Gander Mountain Guide Series. It's pretty bulky when broken down but it is really comfortable. It has a 10 round neoprene shell holder on the door. Two mesh pockets w/ velcro and two zipper pockets. It also has a flag holder. It also has the face mesh and it's in Max 4 camo. I love this blind just wish it was easier to haul around.

I really like my new Power Hunter. It folds up real easy, is light, and the most important thing is you can see the birds almost all the time when your calling at them. Plus it is the lowest blind on th market. I was told a little trick by fred zink himself on how to make them loose about 6 inches.

I have the FA SUB. First time I sat in it, I broke both buckles that hold the seat. I called FA and the lady knew exactly what I was talking about. She sent me out a kit to fix the weak buckles with beefier ones, Next day ups, now thats customer service

All in all its a no frills blind that will conceal you.

Hey guys I have never heard of that problem of the head rest popping out doesn't your headrest have the buttons that pop out the notch holes when you slide the headrest in?????
I literally couldn't pull my head rest out if I wanted to without releasing the buttons.
I'm 260 lbs and I have never had problems and of the 20 or so guys I hunt with it is about 95 % Finishers and I've never seen this before.
Did they change the design?

i have used most of them and owned most of them. We put our blinds through hell. I have found that the avery migrator does not hold up as well as the final approach series of blinds. the frame on the avery are only glavinzed recylied aluminum and final approach blinds are not. Other thing is avery is made in china and ours our made in the USA. If i was you i would seriously look at the Final Approach blinds. You will get more for your money.

I completely agree with Steve.....the Final Approach blinds are high quality in their design and construction...they will not let you down.....there is a model for every need and price range. My favorites are the S.U.B. and the Xlander...
I have used all kinds of blinds over the years...everything from goose chairs to all sorts of contraptions with bungies and every other thing you can imagine....the FA blinds are well thought out, well built, versatile and comfortable.....hope this helps....good luck whatevery choice you make...

the frame on the avery are only glavinzed recylied aluminum and final approach blinds are not. .

Aluminum isn't galvanized dude... Steel is galvanized to prevent rusting.. Aluminum doesn't rust.. Also, I would bet FA uses "recylced" aluminum also just as the car makers, boat makers and anyone else using large amounts of AL are...

As for the blinds, you've gotten a lot of good advice for the most part.. I'm currently using Avery powerhunters and my personal blind is a migrator when I can drive in... I've owned the FA Eliminator and TopGun and both were well made and comfortable but both were a load since they didn't fold up much.. They took up a lot of space... I had a Finisher and it was just uncomfortable... Like others, the headreast would pop out on me (no buttons in mine either) and the cross frame (gun rest) was always cocked and laying on my legs.. That wore me out..

The Powerhunter is nice if you have to walk in and want something very lowprofile and lite weight.. On the other hand, I carry an e-tool with me and dig down a little and my Migrator is low profile then too.. The lid on the PH is real nice for seeing the birds and not feel like something is in your face all day..

I haven't checked out the new line and the improved products from FA yet since I haven't needed to but I'm sure they have some top notch stuff out as well.. I do agree with the buy Made in US and will look hard at their products next time around for sure..

Aluminum isn't galvanized dude
I work in a steel shop and have actually cut galvanized aluminum, but I think the avery blinds are made from regular aluminum. The only time my head rest ever popped out of my finisher was if I didn't have it in all the way. If you get it in there all the way it shouldn't pop out. Hell I think that is the hardest part about puting that blind up and down.

I believe I saw somewhere that the aluminum is anodized, whatever that means, I think it is a little different that galvanized.

How about the velcro for hose guys who are popping out...does you blind have the Velcro so it attached to the rear of the blind material once it is in???
