It's ugly as all get out but i bet its smooth going to the shoulder. Probably don't look all that bad wrapped in Max-4.

They better hope like h*#l that thing shoots a heck of a lot better than it looks. They must be expecting sasquatch to get in the trigger guard.
Heronk
03-30-2009, 07:51 PM
Odd looking styling for sure! The join between the stock and action looks too thin compared to the massive trigger guard. And the vent rib looks too high for a field gun. Can't imagine what the fit and balance would be like.

I cant get over the gun looking like that..looks horrible..I will stick with the Xtremas and sbe2s for now..maybe check out the new Browning Maxus
All this hype, I'm so dissapointed.

Who gives a f*ck what the gun looks like, performance is all that matters and if it performs anything like my SBE II its one hell of a gun!!

it's butt ugly! looks like a kids toy gun or something. Now i see why they didn't show it from the beginning. They were keeping the fact that it's ugly a secret.

$1479 for camo and $1379 for the black are the prices...Kinda surpirsed here i was expecting gun to run alot higher. only chambers up to 3" loads

And a sorry arse front safety
SBE II
03-31-2009, 12:32 PM
Yes I'm very dissapointed with the safety on the front as well. Not convinced with everything that it's better than my SBE II. I was hoping in the torture test they were going to show it getting thrown through some mud, frigid weather, rain, all the stuff we experience not no stupid argentina dove hunt pictures. Major let down!
jrode237
03-31-2009, 01:54 PM
I actually like the front safety it seems more natural to me to push it over with your trigger finger before you would fire it. Do they make it left-handed?

Have you ever seen a SBE II? The safety is still a slide but in the rear of the trigger, thats what everyone is referring to.
jrode237
03-31-2009, 02:04 PM
Yes I actually own a left handed model SBEII and I know what they are referring to. To me a safety in front of the trigger that can be operated by a finger and not your thumb would be ideal. You should know though, that my gun before my SBEII was a Mossberg in which I think has the number one safety out there on top of the reciever. Besides my bb guns I don't have much practice with safeties behind the trigger guard. The safety on my SBEII led to many non-fires in it's first year of use. Just like anything it takes some getting used to.
Way too much hype.........I'm sticking with the SBE2. The first thing that came to my mind was the weird look. Secondly, why only 3" shells?
Alright, when is the SBE3 coming.......

Nova's............Not the fugliest Benelli anymore, thanks Vinci;)
The vinci isnt that bad looking imo...after watching the videos it look's pretty bad ass. I'll be shooting one next season unless there is some major malfunction.

The camo looks better than the synthetic, in my opinion. I agree with Jrode on the front safety, I am a lot more comfortable with the front safety on my Nova, then a thumb safety on the SX2.

88,000 rounds in three days with 12 guns. No way that's 2444 rounds in a day. I had a very hard time shooting 2500 in a day with 3 Beretta's and 2 loaders.

nicely said... not a huge fan of the front safety, the trigger guard looks just like the benelli rifle R1. The camo does look better than the synthetic. i guess im not sure why benelli has this gun chambered in 3''

Repeat after me ... Marketing.
Give all of the top names in waterfowling a 2 3/4 inch Belgium A5. Pay them out the wazoo to shoot them for two years, making videos, testimonials, hero pictures in the field, magazine write-ups, etc. You'll have people fighting over them.

I don't understand why its not chambered in 3 1-2. With most of the waterfowl guys using the big shells why not appeal to that group? They'd probably sell twice as many. It would be interesting to see the sales numbers between the SBE2 and the M2 to compare. Personally I think its ugly and I'll be buying a SBE2 and not this. You wouldn't drive a car you don't like the looks of would you?

Why would they want to cut into the sales of the SBEII??? It's a different niche.

For once I have to agree with Preacher, plus with the cost of shells going up, and cycling is more of an issue on when shooting lighter loads on a 3 1/2 chamber.

If you watch the video the second shot the shooter takes the gun jumps off his shoulder. You never know where this might go, I remember years ago when there was a Russian shooting a over and under that had chokes like a blunder buster. Dam thing looked like it had 10ga barrels. Those chokes shot such even patterns they banned the gun for olympic shooting. I am not a fan of a hooked recoil pad either unless your shooting a premounted gun and I have never been hunting where I stood there with a mounted gun. Of course I am a "stand and Deliver" king of guy.

Then why cut into the sales of the M2. The only difference between the SBE2 and the M2 is the chamber. If anything Benelli should make this in a 3 1-2 chamber and improve on something. I don't like the way it breaks down into three parts, leaves too much room for slop in the future.

You and I both know that the SBEII is their flagship shotgun. It has new design features that the M2 doesn't have. It might be a way for them to boost sales of the 3" gun.

Not the best lookin gun, but I bet it still handles nice like the others do. I think I'll stick with my Supernova!
the only thing its got going for it in my opinon is that the recoil spring is not in side the butt like it is on the sbe and sbe2, before i just trash the thing i need to hold it, that being said i don't like the looks but my little bro cant wait to get his hands on one.
