DRC INMATE. I used to run Foiles and Zink goose calls, but sold them all and use DRC goose calls, great decision in my part.. The inmate is the ticket with the broke in guts or the short drop is a nasty, sweet call that is super fast. I have a Life Sentence, like it, but its #3 behind the short drop and inmate

The Showtime is a great call.I really like the high crack you can get out of it. Wit broken in guts this call can be really fast. Fast and loud! It takes a little more air than a smh, but The sound is sweet. It is a call that can reach out there and touch those high birds. I liked mine as much or more than my smh. You cannot go wrong by getting a SHOWTIME! Hope this helps!

IMO.....I am not a fan of DRC goose calls one bit...I think they take way too much air to blow...I would definitely not recommend them at all...as far as the showtime....AWESOME call....real fast and loud real fun call to blow....just my opinion if you want i could put together a sound file of the showtime for you..pm me and let me know...

DRC Life Sentence

I blown all three calls, and for me, the way I present air into the call, the DRC calls are a little difficult for me to use. Not sure what it is, but I can get sound, and then it sticks.....a lot of people like them...Cory is a great guy and he is doing well with them.....but his goose calls are just something that doesn't fit me.....and it ain't a bad thing, but its just the way it is.
The showtime is a great call.....smooth sounding, loud, goosey, and very easy to blow. Can be used in several situations....very versatile call for the high end and low end...

Other than the presentation of air into the call, how does the actual sound compare? clucks, moans, low end, sharpness? Is the showtime more of a comp call or will it work better in the field?

If you can try them both out, definetly do so....either way I think you would end up being satisfied with either one.

I have a DRC Life Sentence and it is super easy to blow and love it, Yes I agree they're different from Foiles calls, Foiles for me takes a little more air for me to blow than my DRC. When DRC's were first in production I could not blow it as well but now they are tuned better and easier to blow, But you can tune it to your liking of course. DRC has great low ends, honks, moans. I also have a Short Drop and they are fast and I can't imagine having mine with broke in guts! Give Cory a call, he will help you out with anything you need!
You won't go wrong with the call you choose, blow both calls that you are thinking of and see which one fits you better. It's your preference. Good Luck!

NDH2OFowler where are you located? I live in West Fargo. If you live anywhere near here, you can sure run one of my Inmates. Mine don't have the BIG's, they have the same guts as the Life Sentence. They don't take as much air to blow as the BIG's. Let me know.

Thanks for your help so far. I have pretty good experience with short reed calls and i realize that you should try the calls and buy one that fits you but there is no stores around me that sell DRC calls so i cant go try them out. I have heard alot of good things about these calls so that is why i am trying to get the best info i can from other people

I've used both call makers calls. I had a few Showtimes and a couple Inmates as well as a couple Life Sentences.
I prefer the DRC because of the fit. They fit my hands better and were more comfortable in general. Cory is a super nice guy as well.

I just got a Showtime off the yard sale too. I've never blown a short reed before in my life. I got a five minute movie off youtube and i got it down pretty good. I'll be honking away in the truck for the next five months on that thing so i can retire the flutes this fall!

I just got my showtime in the mail today. I've only been blowing it for about 5 minutes, but I've got to say I'm impressed. Like I said before, I don't have the BIG's in my Inmates, but they are pretty broken in. I really think this Showtime has more range than my Inmates. The reason I have 2 inmates is I have 1 medium and 1 low pitched. This call is probably between the 2, pitch wise, but can get almost as low as the 1 and higher than the other. Am I gonna retire the Inmates, hell no, but this call definitely looks like it's got a spot on the lanyard. Like I said, where in ND do you live? I live in Fargo and might be heading north next weekend if you wanted to meet up and try them out.

I switched this year from a flute call to the MeatGrinder and Showtime. The MeatGrinder is somewhat lower toned, but the Showtime is loud, and after getting used to it, is now my "go to" call. Once you get somewhat used to the short reed calls, as the old guy said, "you pay your money and take your choice."
I really love the Showtime, I thought I was a fool to get it, however, I will not get rid of it no matter the $$$. And I'm somewhat of an old fart, have been hunting geese for 20 plus years, and most of them, with the exception of last season I used the flute call. I cannot recommend the Showtime highly enough, and I am an amateur with it.

any of the 3 is great , the showtime is a little easier to run then an inmate ,for me i hated the drc's at first but after alot of playing around with them i found for me they take a whole different calling style. once u get it down there great , and out of fmi and drc u cant find better customer service . they bolth are top notch
