Just picked up an acrylic strait suzy and the front of the top reed has a little upflip in it about a 45 degree angle starting at about the last 1/16 " is this normal have not seen it on any other double reed i have

alot of people tune there calls like that, i have bought some used calls tuned the same way ---mine sound pretty good! if you dont like it that way you can always put a new set in.

Where did you pick the suzy up from. Used or new? the only thing I can think of from what you posted, and not seeing picks, is the barrel got caught on the top reed, while putting the call back together and creased the reed, or someone bent it. The reed should not have a kink in it, or be bent. Let me know if you need any help, I do whatever I can to get that call sounding right for ya.

sorry maybe im reading this wrong, i thought he was referring to the shorter reed on the end closest to the mouth --i know there are people that do bend them up at the very end of the reed, there was a post about it, but i cant find it at the moment---and the 1 i have that way sound pretty good

it may be the way you are referring to. Its hard to tell, without pics of the reed. there are so many different ways ppl tune now adays, it could be anything.

Was at Sportsman's Warehouse and the Grounds goose calls were all like that (reed bent up at last hundred thousandths or so).

Was at Sportsman's Warehouse and the Grounds goose calls were all like that (reed bent up at last hundred thousandths or so).not a staffer but i'd say if it was turned up like the goose calls then someone was playing with it that shouldn't of been . on goose calls people to that to set the reed futher from the guts to to allow for more air before the reed breaks ,like in contest where adrenilan or excitement is high , on a duck call i have no idea why someone would do it. does it sound good ?

My XR2 came like that, sounded pretty good, although i'd say the right answer on this one is get rid of it immediately. send me a pm and i'll take it off your hands!
