hey boys is it possible for your gut system to ever go bad? just wondering.

I know Mark Carey has worn out a couple of sets. If the grooves wear to far into the tone channel the reed will drop to far down and get hung up, and the call will stick. The chance of an ordinary guy weraing out a set of guts is pretty slim. I've had the same guts in my contest call for 3 or 4 yrs. and God only knows how many thousands of routines I've blown with that call. However one of my buddies had a SMH and after a year the call was out tune, it would break over to easy. I put several reeds in it and it didn't help at all. I Put a new set of guts in it and it was fine, he's a heavy smoker I don't know if the tar affected it or not. Johnny McDonnell

That set of guts Mark blew in Colorado last summer had a groove from hell in them and they were MONEY!

I've had the same guts in my SMH for 4 years and they just get better with age.
