Went out this morning and as soon as the long beards hit the ground they got lockjaw. I didn't have class today until 4:40. So I came back and took me a nap. I got up and went to wash the truck. I was on my way to town and seen this big boy in the field on the farm at 1:20. I got within 65 yards of him and let him have it. It was my first time using my new beretta extrema 2 with a primos .665 jelly head choke with winchester number 5's. It absolutely crushed him. He weighed 23 lbs with 9 1/2 inch beard. One spur was inch and a half the other was inch and a quarter. Overall I was thouroughly impressed with the gun.

I've measured it 3 more times and out of the four times I've measured it would go 9 and 3/4's.

I'll give ya that, but the spurs sure don't look like 1 1/2 inch and 1 1/4 inch hooks to me. JMO. 65 yards is one hell of a poke. I shot a bird at 47 steps a few years ago and that was pushing it for my gun/choke/shell combo. Pattern just simply isn't tight enough much further than that. I've heard good things about the Jelly Head tube. Nice job.

The pictures were taken with my phone. I measured and my dad measured the spurs. The lengths are inch 1/2 and inch 1/4.

Double_Band, how big do you think these spurs are then? http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l318/KillerMiller19_2006/DSCN0461.jpg

Inch and an 1/4 and maybe the sharp one will be in between inch and a quarter and inch 1/2.

The top spur in my first photo is just barely shy of 1 1/2 inch. So you saying that the bigger of the spurs on your bird is 1 1/2 inch seems a awfully long to me. JMO I guess though. Carry on.

I guess that's why people say opions are like assholes everyone has one and most of em stink. I know what they measured and just because I didn't put the camera on my phone right on top of the spur don't mean it aint a inch 1/2.

That's a nice set of hooks Tyler.

Did you ever finish the hook necklace you were working on??

Yes I did. Hell, that was 2 springs ago. I've got 2 sets from last year and a set from this year I need to get on there. I don't wear it, but it hangs from my rear view mirror.....the dream catchers don't work for me. lol
