is it illegal to have duck decoys in your goose spread if the duck season is closed - im saying this because i'm in a decoys crunch and the duck decoys might help attract geese too

I wouldnt think so as long as you havent harvested any ducks. There is no law in our reg. book that says you can't, but thats Iowa.

I asked a buddy of mine that question this weekend and he told me as long as you you don't shoot any you can set duck decoys. We had ducks swarming us as the geese were coming in also. I think it's a confidence thing for the geese to see.

It's okay in Ohio too. We do it during early season and at the end of late season as well. Those motion ducks add a lot of movement to the spred.

Makes the game wardens extra excited :)
They'll think you have been killing ducks too, then when they find out you havent...They'll check you for every little thing there is to check.
