new caller

I just bought a SMH last week and am having a little trouble using it.

I am new to goose hunting and wanted to use the best, but what is the best way to learn (tapes or videos lessons etc.)?

I am still kiling some geese, by straight luck I guess

Calling Geese 2.0 DVD is the best out there. Jeff will teach you all you need to know. I suggest picking it up before you devlop bad habits.

Does it teach you the basics first? The description on the website says that it takes you to the next level, but I need to start at the first.

either of the Videos are awesome, also pick up the CDs to play in the car, or on headphones, once you get the basics down, find a good recording of LIVE bird sounds, the best teachers in the world are the birds themseves, and always remember that all the FANCY stuff most callers do is for the stage, basic clucks and moans, are what kills geese in the field, once you get a good cluck, and a good honk, just pratice that same sound over and over and over, and when you think you got it PRACTICE some more...till it becomes second nature, and then the rest will follow, and if you have any issues, there is more than enough people on here that would be willing to give you pointers and help with trouble spots myself included......and yeah talk to the Iowa Killing Crew, them guys lay some birds on the ground....

Just got the 2.0 dvd yesterday, every question I had would be answered it the next segment of the video. That thing is great!!

Yep, its an awesome instructional video. Callin ducks 2.0 is awesome too. Jeff teaches some really neat and good sounding "specialty calls" like the bouncing hen and the cajun squel.

Ditto on "Callin' Geese, 2.0". I'm new to the sport as well; this is my 2nd season. From the DVD, Jeff had me making all the neccessary "meat hunting" sounds (greeting call, cluck, moan & feeding growl) within 20 minutes. You're gonna be real happy with that call. Good luck.

Calling Geese 2.0 DVD, is awsome, don't forget to consider the CD's also, they have a lot of good info and are great for listening to in the truck.
