Does anyone know how to keep there calls from sticking. I dont have a problem with any of my MH, HPH, SMH, or TR, but i do seem to have quite a bit of trouble with my Strait Street wanting to stick. Didnt know if anyone had any advice on what to do so that it doesnt stick as much. Thanks.

Blow backwards through it after using it to get the moisture out of it. Or use a dollar bill to keep it dry. It may be time for a new reed also if it is sticking and you have barely started to blow it.

Hunting in the cold - go a bit longer on the reed or pull it out.
stage - the reed is longer so practice till it herts and it will go away.
& take the reed out after you practice.
Also, look at the reed, (board marks) you might have it in wrong.
:) Thats what I do.

There is no way that will fix it, sorry. And it isn't operation error either. It's impossible to blow dry, and if somebody tells you that they do, or that you need to learn how, they aren't telling the truth. I have gone through all these problems and have had problems sticking calls more than anyone I've ever known. I do have the answer though, but you Foiles guys aren't going to like it.

Buck Gardner spit tech duck calls. I bought one and stuck it within the first 5 minutes I blew it. Then I called the shop and they gave me Buck's cell number and he overnighted a new insert to me for free, and I can't stick the new one if I try! Buck gave me the best customer service imagineable. Direct quote from Buck to me, "We don't make a lot of money, but we make a lot of friends." I blew a RNT MVP before the mainstreet I know blow, and it sounds just as good.

sorry charlie theres always a fix to a call, any call for that matter from a walmart el cheapo to any high end call. i have 2 singles BGB, TR/SR and a TR/DR all of these stuck at one time or another. soaking wet with spit or dry didnt matter. the singles i slightly sanded the tone boards hence problem fixed #2 double reeds if it didnt have a dimple i put one in. if it had only one dimple i made it bigger or added a second one hence fixed.

how much do u sand the tone-board?

just enough to break the surface use 100 grit or emery paper. remove the reed and very lightly sand the tone board lenght wise of the board. when you go to put the reed back in make sure that the natural curve of the reed is facing up.PS dont sand where the wedge goes in.

for the record most all foiles duck calls have a sanded tone board from the factory. over time from blowing the call the friction from the reed wears off the factory roughness making it smooth. hence making it easeir for moisture or spit to form a bond between the tone board and reed making them stick. this will not fix all cases. depending on how much you blow your calls it might be time to replace the reed or both reeds. it is not uncommen for any duck call not to stick, this goes back to the moisture thing again(spit) either blowining backwords through the call or flicking the reed is some times nessasary.

i had an older strait street with the older style bag and it didnt have any ingraving, and it stuck like mad!!! just wondering if the new ones got a little more tweakin and perfecting, cause i traded it for an MVP which i like, it doesnt stick, but im a foiles guy so its killing me, also i cant get it to chuckle like my foiles call did, thinkin about trading for a new one.
But seriously why is it RNT has takin so many contest instead of foiles? cause who is callin for em or what? i dont get it. maybe i just gotta practice my brains out so i get better than john stevens and jim ronquest combined!!! lol

Absolutely the caller more than the call. With what was suggested earlier, if you are going to sand your own tone board be extremely careful! It doesn't take much to change the sound of a call.

Well if there is a fix for every call, then I should have sent you my RNT! They replaced my MVP 3 times before I finally got fed up and sold it. Whoever said that they were not satisfied with their BG spit tech, call the shop and I promise they will take care of you.

Lightly sanding tone board works well.

Also, something that has helped me and a lot of other people to spit less is to make sure that the tip of your tounge stays down behind your bottom teeth. When the tip of your tounge isn't anchored there you will put a bunch more spit through your call and it will stick more.
