Dry it off as best as you can, then roll the bird into a plastic garbage bag and place it in the freezer. Any type pf paper product will cause the eyes to dry out. If, at the end of the season, you still want to do the mount, the bird will be fine. That's what my taxidermist told me to do.
As for accentuating the head, I would mount it sitting on a piece of driftwood. Good luck.

Myself and two friends have a pit leased off of Big Woods Rd, just E of Smyrna Leipsic Rd, on the Snow Farm. We had a decent first Season; we shot about 25 Canadas and like 6 Snows. The second season has been somewhat of a bust, however. We've only killed like 6 since Dec 14th. If there are any other DE hunters on here, how has your hunting season gone in relation to Canadians? Secondly, is it just the warm weather that has been affecting the hunt, or are the bird numbers just way down? We've even tried hunting in the evening and in some pretty nasty weather, and the results just aren't there!
I would also like to say that myself and my two friends call with foiles migrators brand for the most part and are very happy with the results.

Its a combination of both, i think its the weather, i was at Cedar Swamp this morning Sweating in the drizzle, saw prolly 150,00 snows, and maybe 5 small groups of canadians, they just arent here....hey where you at in M-town, maybe we could hook up and do some callin or get out and shoot something ....lemme know....

if you're on one of Snow's farms and you are not killin birds, then nobody is. i think the weather has screwed things up royaly. just think how many birds were here last year and how many are here now. no where near the amount of birds and the ones that are here are not as stupid=== a not so good season.

Well the snows are here in HUGE #rs...but the canadians are few and faw between, hunted all morning this and only saw maybe 5 small groups, and only had three of them work the spread...

Yeh, we were out this morning too. Snows started Flying as usual, thousands just too high to shoot. We thought the morning was gonna turn out right with the cloud cover and drizzle, but only shot 1 Canada at 11'ish. What we've been noticing is that the small amount of birds we've been seeing, probably 300 today, are already under a lot of pressure and have been heading over us just out of range. Then they drop in the fields behind us not being hunted in; and once they started flooding a field, the other birds seem to have radar and follow. We hunt over winter wheat and when I left I noticed about 100 or so sitting in corn just West of us. We were out yesterday in the nasty stuff as well. We changed up to hunt evenings and set up at 1 and stayed till 4:40. I bet we saw like 50 all afternoon. We aren't giving up though and are praying for cold weather to get here!

Yeah same situation this morning watched the few i did see fly to a field full of them right behind me where you couldnt hunt, but i did get a couple small groups to werk, that had come from another field where they were skybusted at.....i unno i thought that front that came in was a cold front and i was so hype about going out, if i would have known it was a warm front i wouldnt have put on 4 layer this morning, i was sweating bullets packing everything in, made like 3 trips to the car, the Drizzle was my only relief...kinda glad too tho cause i had my pup with me, and there was 3 inches of water in the bottom of the pit, so she was wet early, i was worried about her being cold till i seen the steam comming off of her, and she was just sitting there, i wish i coulda gotten a pic of that i was crackin up...

man guess u guys need to do something. im from delaware and hunt in Northeast and there is literally thousands of birds there. we didnt go hunting saturday morning and there was over 1000 brids in our field in front of both of our blinds. we kill hundreds of birds every year from the same 2 blinds. of course our 2 fields are where they feed at every year. same field when the migrators come down.
