I have a question on decoy placement in goose spreads. What does everyone do as far as placement, styles of deks and where they are in relation of your blind?
I have 2 dozen mag shells and a FA blind. I know that isnt many deks but it is what I got. Christmas is coming!!!

Depends on the field, time of year, number of birds, wind direction, weather, pressure, where they are coming from, how many hunters.....
With 2 dozen shells I would just make a blob around the blind with the wind to your back. If it's cold keep them close together. Late season keep them close together. High pressure area keep them 3-6 feet apart.

One large group around the blind(s) then a bunch of small family groups set out to give you a nice kill hole.

I normally do the same thing but i also have some full bodies up. One big thing that we always did early season was put about 3 doz behind and around you, 6-8 on each side of you kinda at a diagonal about 3 ft away, and the last thing we do is but 3 high actives out in front of us to make it look like they just landed and r walking in. Never had a goose flare from it.

early season we were using 6 greenhead and a flapper and shooting limits of ducks and a few geese, now later season been using a V like from with doz full bodys and 2 doz shell all around the whole think. seemed to work pretty good as long as they fly b4 dark

We hunt in DE and there is a lot of pressure around us so we use just over a 100 full body FA and GHG Canadas and about 30 shells mixed in. We usually run a line throught the pit with the birds spread out about 4 yards away from each other, and about 5 - 8 yards apart. Then we have several familys out front about 25 to 30 yards out and kind of curve the two lines together on the side the wind is coming from. This leaves us a nice hole in front of the pit opened up so the birds can land with the wind in their face.
