Hi everyone i just purchased one of these calls. I was wondering are these always hard to blow. Is it just a tuning problem or not. I am wondering will this problem be fixed if i send it to jeff himself for tuning.
THANKS
new calls are allways a little harder to blow because the reeds are still firm and not broken in, are you used to a short reed or just starten out???its hard to explain how to tune a call, you could send it in to be custom tuned but theres allot of great guys here that can give ya some tips. its mostly trial and error on tuning to get it to your liking.usually jeff does some of the tuning also so does big sean ,mostly the guy's at the shop who put the calls together do the tuning.

I have always blown short reeds i started with a zink power max. It was easy to blow from the get go. Now i have the strait meat honker and it seems it takes more air to get the reed to break kind of like the canada hammer. I just recently blew a money maker and it is very easy to blow and takes less air to get the reed to break. I have tried to tune the SMH and i can get it to sound good but the reed sometimes gets locked and sounds funny. I can get it to sound good but it seems to me like it takes alot of air to blow. Will this come out of it if i send it in or just break it in myself. How much would it cost me to send it in? My bro has one to and it shows the same problems. By sending it in what do you boys do to it, do you shave the reed or what?
yea the zinks do blow easier , use to own some but no more ,die hard foiles fan!!! as for the sticking probobly the way ya have the reed set ,it should just drop in the tone board with very little space. yes the foiles are different to call with but it takes practice and fine tuning, can you tell if its a shaved reed or not?i have 3 SMH's 2 blow real easy the other blows a little harder just the way i have it tuned. remmember it only takes a little adjusting for fine tuning i mean very little. if ya need any more help try callin the shop and speakin with one of the guy's, they are more than glad to help ya out!! the customer service is second to none!!!!!! heres the number 866-83- geese
