I can't do a greeting call while wearing gloves. Any advice other than not to wear gloves?

Unfortunately brother....no advice. I cannot blow a call AT ALL with gloves on. Sounds too muffled. So, all waterfowl season long, I suffer BIG TIME with dry, cracking skin on my hands.

That's what I figured. I did a guided goose hunt up here in Northern Illinois. The giude and a salty old-timer (lots of bands on his lanyard) both were calling without gloves.
I'm really diggin' this Meatgrinder I just got. Too bad the season up here is over.

I have tried everything except the Avery Fleece Callers gloves....and I have yet to find anything that works without muffling the sound. And as for hte fleece callers gloves - I haven't really heard much about them - good or bad. Might be worth a try???
I just suffer through it and make sure to ALWAYS have some disposable handwarmers and my trusty Drake Chest Pack / Hand Warmer.

id like to try and find some gloves for the early season too when the misquitos are ridiculosly thick. you know the days when you come home and u have lil red bumps all over your hands no matter how much OFF u spray on. i had a pair of work gloves on and was practicin callin one day and i noticed the same how it muffled the calls. Im gonna try your hot pack idea next year mark.

everyone deals with it. It sucks with me is i have psoriasis on my hands and when i get them wet and they start to dry from the wind they crack and wont stop till i get something on them. the only thing ya can do is keep hand warmers in the pockets for those fast shooting days and a pair of gloves for those days where you see a flock every hour or so. good luck hunting

When you buy handwarmers get the Pocketwarmers(the big ones), they will last all day. I have started off hunting at 6:30am and those things are still pumpin heat at 9:00pm. Put um in your pocets and when you get a chance warm your hands up. I have seen the avery callers gloves and I'm not impressed. They are basically a piece of fleece with a hole in them for a finger and thats it, I don't think they would provide much heat retension.

You guys all gave some great input. Thanks. It's kinda what I figured. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't some special technique I didn't know.
Jeff's "Calling Geese" DVD made all the difference with making my new Meatgrinder sing. I'm really happy with thais call. Next year Scout and I will grind em.
Funny note: The other day I was calling while driving and a cop pulled me over. He thought I was smoking a crack pipe. I'm sure I'm not the 1st one that's happened to.

Take those gloves off and blow that call like a man. When theres no geese around go ahead and put the gloves back on. It's pretty hard to call in geese with a pair of gloves on.

I have the same problem, I used to have an old Olt A-50 tuned so that it sounded better when using thin gloves (batting gloves). I don't wear gloves anymore either, handwarmers and Cornhuskers lotion are the key. Unfortunately I am the "guide" for the guys I hunt with, I supply the blind, dekes, and do the calling and set everything up. They set their with their gloves, hoods, and facemasks while I am their with a ball cap and no gloves. But I guess my obsession keeps me warm
So yes go with the big handwarmers, and keep Cornhuskers lotion in your blind bag, that stough is amazing, and doesn't stink or leave you feeling greasy.

Try putting a cheap latex glove over you heavier gloves. It helps to not muffle it so much. Old timer up on the river told me about that trick. ;)

Yup, I dont think there's really anything you can do about blowing with gloves on. It jsut doesnt work, I dont care how good you are. It muffles the sound so bad. I wear my handwarmer muff deal and put handwarmers in it when Im hunting and its really cold.
