i just recently purchased a strait meat honker call.
my buddy has one and tuned it right for me. he blew it and did a series of calls and it sounded awesome. This is my first short reed call and i can't get the right goose sounds out of it. i am use to just puffing and blowing with my cheeks. I was told to 'grunt' into it and use air from my diaphragm. i cannot do this. i want to puff my cheeks always. how do i break my habit and use air from my diaphragm..? just need some help to get going with my call.. any input woudl be appreciated. thank you.

put your tongue against the top of your mouth and hold it with your top teeth and try that. dont blow with your mouth use your gut for air, kinda like clearin your throat or coughing. also get the DVD callin geese 2.0 the best $20.00 bucks you'll ever spend jeff walks ya through all the steps and sounds.hope this helps

Next time you gargle, hold the mouthwash with your head back and say gah-gah-gah through the mouthwash. May sound like a dumb trick, but that is how I learned. That trick is on callin geese the strait meet way and 2.0. Buy 2.0
