Don't forget about the Winchester SX2 or the new SX3 or the Stoeger 2000....both great guns for the money!!!!

What Mark Said, but also look at the Franchi I-12 and 912 the I-12 uses the Benelli Inertia Drive and the 912 is a 3.5" gas gun. Franchi's are also Italian made and of good quality. Imported by Benelli.

Wingslocked, what is your price range! Are you wanting a 3 1/2 chambered gun because that'll cost ya some too. Dont get too crazy boys, even though Benelli makes Stoegers and Franchi's, they are definately not BENELLI'S!! I've heard nothing but bad things about those Stoegers. Im havent heard much about he Franchi's though. My grandpa had one and it seemed to be a great shooting gun. Good call on the Super X 2 though. Havent shot one but I know a few people who shoot them and they like them. They're basically a Browning Gold, just cheaper.

Jeff:

Thanks for throwing out the 912...I couldn't think of it!!!

As for the Stoegers....I haven't really heard anything bad about them. But I can say, I have never shot one myself. But I have friends that have and they liked the gun....and their pretty partial to certain "brand name" guns!!!

Killermiller, just a point of information, Benelli does not make Stoeger or Franchi, Benelli only distributes them. Franchi is an old Italian company who has been around as long if not longer than Benelli, I had a Law 12 tactical of theirs for a while and loved it, never a problem. Stoeger on the other hand, is a turkish made gun that uses a license from Benelli to produce a copy of the Benelli Inertia Drive. It is not made by Benelli or Stoeger for that matter, Stoeger does not manufacture firearms they market them, kind of like the old Montgomery wards Westernfield made by mossberg.

I shoot Benelli's and Browning's almost exclusively, I do have shotguns from most all of the different manufacturers but the B's are my primary.

I would not hesitate to buy a Franchi or use one at all, they are excellent shotguns, but the next franchi I buy will be an Alcion.

Good luck deciding on one, I recommend you try them all, see which feels best then try to get with someone to shoot them.

If your looking for a economical semi auto look at the Charles daly. I own one and love it. 12 ga shoots 3" Never had a problem, black Synthetic so when it gets kicked around in the blind scratches don;t bother me. Only cost 309.00. I was looking at berretta, Benelli and Browning when I got mine 5 years ago. the Daly shoulderd just as well as the Others and for a heck of alot less Green.

I would definately think about a beretta 390 for 500 bucks at wallyworld. Awesome gun and as reliable as an old friend. I would be cautious of stoger...my uncle had 2 and both had trouble...could have been lemons..just thought I would let you know. Anyway...get something of at least decent quality otherwise just wait and save!!!

Good call on the Super X 2 though. They're basically a Browning Gold, just cheaper.

No...they are not the same gun. The only piece that is even close to the same is the gas piston. The action, bolt, feed system....evrything else is completly different because of the Gold Speed Loader system.

I shoot an 11-87 and it has held up relatively well for the abuse I throw at it. that said, my next one will be a Super X-2. All my buddies shootin em love em. Not exactly the same but very similar to the Browning Gold and much cheaper.

Had nothing but trouble with my Daly 3 in. I purchased a Baikal in 3 1/2 chamber, and absolutley love it. Never had a problem.

I had a Charles Daly automiatic. It lasted 2 days in the duck blind. It shot about 2 boxes through it before it started screwing up. It wouldnt eject spent shell or wouldnt cycle another shell into the chamber. Ohh yeah, sometimes the damn firing pin wouldnt hit the primer hard enough to make the shell fire!! It was a complete POS!! The third day out, it froze up so bad that my dad broke the bolt off the chamber trying to open it and it wasnt even that cold out!! Maybe it was just that gun, but I wouldnt buy one. SCHEELS wOULDNT EVEN TRADE for it because it was a firearm made by KBI after 2001 or 2000. I cant remember what year it was. They had a typed sheet of paper they showed me and my dad that said it!! I'd say that means something is up with those damn things! We traded it at another shop.

I'll go pick up a SX2 for 700 at Gander. I'm looking at buying a SX2 for the fact that, it is the only gun that fits me. Everything else that I have picked up I either have to drop my head to be looking down the barrel, or everything is off kilt.

I picked up a Beretta ES 100 last summer. It was more or less an impulse buy since it was under 500 new. I bought it for a spare gun, but I've been shooting it a ton. I love that thing. I haven't had any trouble at all with it. It's a great gun. Joe
