Hi, I have a question.
This is sorta my first season that I've really started using short reeds constantly and at least I think I am pretty good. I have been practicing for a while and it has paid off. I am 14 and second to youngest that hunt in our club. Right now I am using a Sean Mann Shorty and I'm breaking in a Sean Mann Sweet Talker for my grandfather. This season alone I have locked up and brought in at least four flocks of at least 50 geese by myself, and of course the decoy spread played a part in it too. Tyler Golt, the Maryland Junior Goose Calling Champion and one of my close friends, listened to me call and said I was pretty good. I was thinking about calling in the contest next year in Easton and I have some questions about it. My first question is what kind of notes should I focus on and what do the judges look for? My second question is about joining a team. What kind of things do teams and companies look for in callers besides solid wins? Several of my friends are on call teams and I really want to join one. I was looking into Foiles Calls and Bay Country Calls because they have a sturdy record in contest wins and it's growing, but I don't know which company to choose. Thanks for your help.
if you looking at our company then you should buy from us!!!! are calls are second to none, and the customer service is the same!! jeff built this company from the ground up and the contest wins are also second to none. if you research the home page jeff and big sean and some of the other listed contest callers have blown the socks of the competion for many years. check us out you wont be dissapointed.
as for your other questions on contest calling and joining. krees ,mark spence, big sean, john vaca, gary crafton or anyone of the other pro staffers can help ya out on that one.

i would choose whatever call you can blow the best and feel comfortable with it.Practice your calling every chance ya got, from my experience with comp calling just because someone says yur good doesnt actually mean yur comp ready(my opinion),i compete in comps cause to me its the best practice to get comp ready,if that makes sense to ya.

i agree.. hows the customer service at the other call makers and there reputation????if you were blowin comps for foiles more than likely they'd be there to. so if anything were to happen to a call, they'd be right there to fix ya up and keep ya callin. just my.02 cents worth

yea thats another reason i was leanin toward foiles and bay country. i no foiles would be there to back me in a contest. as for bay country, ive actually talked to john taylor and i might ride down to his house in quantico to check out his calls

man you can't go wrong with foiles i have just been apart of this forum for a little while and i can't say enough about the customer service and this isn't coming from some one that is a prostaffer or anything close just regular old joe hunter don't know much about the other company but you can't beat this one if you ask me

If it was me I would go with a "Shore Thing" from Bay Country. John Taylor, Justin Culver,Mitch Hughes are all great guys and superb comp callers. Reigning Champion of Champions and World Champ plus the calls are so easy to use and super service.Enough said.

it dont matter if a call has a world title or champion of champion title,a short reed is as good as the person behind it.I never blew on a bay call but i do know that a SMH is the loudest and easiest call to work with in my opinion.

Obviously the callers ability is important but so is the call. If you haven't used a call it is impossible to determine its ease of use, loudness, range, etc. Having used both, the Bay Country calls are easy to use and just as goosey as any call that any "major" callmaker produces.
