I need to pick up a dog blind before the season. Anyone have any experience with the FA Mutt Hut-original and/or the GHG Ground Force?
I can pick up a Mutt Hut from Barry for a good deal, or I can get a good deal on a Ground Force. Im just wondering the pros and cons of both. Which ones more durable, mor comfortable, and hides better.
The only thing that concerns me about the Mutt Hut is that they dont make them anymore, so replacement part might be hard to find. I kinda like the aluminum frame of the GHG over the fiberglass of the Mutt Hut. Plus I can get a snow cover for the GHG.
Any input would be greatly apreciated

I would say the mut-hut would be the one to go with. From what I have herd on other forums is that the GHG dog blind isn't very good. Plus I sure think that its really small for a big lab to get into. Thats just my .02 though.

I bought a Mutt hut and I like it, but it is kinda small. My lab weighs about 90lbs and it's hard for her to turn around in. on the other hand I was going through my stuff the other day and the fiberglass rod frame had broken at a strss point. I think I could fix it but it seems like a problem area.

rods are bad about breaking on the mutt hut 1 and your right they dont makem any more. the other one is the only one that they make a snow cover for that i know of. i would get the ground force.

i have ran my mut hut now for going on 6 yrs. couldnt be a better blind. Hands down it is the best blind imo if you have a bigger dog.
I had two of the origional Mutt Hutt's, the first one the upper rod was a mile to long and went under a velcro closure, I just cut it down and it was good to go. The other one I have now has two eyelets for the upper rod and it works great. The first one did break a lower rod right at the union during a hunt, took the rod out, pulled the broke piece out, put it back together and it ended up lasting the rest of the hunt. I ended up replacing both lower two piece rods with some 7/16th wooden dowel and it still packed into my layout with no problems, if they do break its an easy fix with something from a hardware store and not having to order parts from FA.
My lab tops the scales from 95-102lbs and fits just fine, even having to turn around.

i have a ground force and have had zero problems with it. the dog has to lay down in it but that keeps it better hidden imo. my lab goes bout 90 pounds and we use it from sept 1 into feb as well as a few spring snow goose hunts.

I have a big english lab 105 pounds. Is either of those tall enough for my dog to get in and turn around?

I have a groundforce. Its a great product. Takes about 15 seconds to assemble. They make a low profile version too. I can't speak for the mutt hut but I've have seen plenty of complaints online about the size being too small.
i got the bigger ground force and love it !!! , my dog is tall and skinny and being able 2 enter from either side is a plus 4 her !!! we used it 2 drag 12 geese in last year and no rips -breaks or bends !!{geese did keep fallin out though !!!
i think the mutt hut is easier 2 hide but i've never had any issues with hidin the ground force !!!
