I have an 04 4x4 5.3l V8 silverado with 45k on it. I just got the truck in July and I've noticed the past few days when shifting from 1st to 2nd it slipps and kind of gives the truck a hard shift into 2nd. I just have the trany fluids flushed saturday and it's still occuring. But it only occurs when i take off extremely slow, if i accelerate normally it's fine. Any ideas or thoughts on what it might be?

Or it could have something to do with electrical interference. I would take it in and have them run some tests. You may have some dirty wires that arent conducting as they should with the circuit in full power. Maybe that would explain the reason it only happens when you start off extremely slow.

My uncle is a full time auto-mechanic and I know everytime they do a tranny flush and filter change they put an additive in it like trans-x whether or not the vehicle was having problems. He told me 4 out of 5 times it helps. In my book it's worth a shot. I'd only take it in as a last resort.
Also, remember when you told your mom, "mom it hurts when I do this" and she said, "well then don't do that." You said it shifts fine when you accelerate normally, so I'd probably do that too.

Ha ha, good call. I like it when the doctor says just make sure you drink lots of liquids...just more of a reason to go buy a case of beer:)
z71, a fluid and filter change isnt going to help...believe me on this one, been a Certifed Master Tech since 18.
Take it somewhere and have the trans scanned for faults first, more than likely your truck has the 4L60E trans or the new number there using, still the same trans. Either way there notorious for sunshell problems which hold all the clutch packs. Thats the biggest problem Ive seen since this trans came out, they crack and cause slipping problems or either fail right away. If it just came on its that or a solenoid problem.
Additives arent a fix it cure....

Mine was doing that and so I just changed the fuel filter and replaced/cleaned a couple other performance related things and it went away. I guess if the engine and the tranny aren't performing 100% on the same page it can cause this. I was in doubt when I was told to do this by my buddy, but he worked at the local chevy dealership for a long time and I thought what could I lose, it's only like 15 bucks for a filter and 3 bucks for a can of m.a.s cleaner.

Whats it going to cost me from the symptoms? is it a good possibility they're going to have to replace the trany?

If in fact it is a sunshell failure, anywhere from $1400-$2200 with the updated sunshell and solenoid pack.
Have a reputable trans shop run there scanner and test drive it first, if they want your business they should do it for a minimal fee or no charge.
out of curiousity was there any type of clunk or snap before this problem started?

Nope, nothing. Only thing that has been different is I've been driving on a lot of dirt roads scouting for deer and dove, but other than that not snap or clunk.

Seen some pretty strange things happen, one just broke "sunshell" on a customers truck sitting at a stop light. Stepped on the gas and no forward gears.
hopefully its minor, good luck.

Hard to say, best to get it scanned first.

1st problem: You bought a GM:D
I was always told that unless your tranny fluid is burned. DO NOT FLUSH IT! Im going on 117k in my f150 and i have an edge and it shifts hard as hell, kind of scares me but i've never had a problem with it shifting. Now my uncle has the same truck and has had his flushed 3 times and is always try to figure some problem out with it. lol same deal go with mud terrain, Never re balance m/t tires, if so you'll rattle your brains out!

I've heard that too with never flushing the system. We had a truck at work that had 153K on it, never been flushed. We flushed it and within a month we was getting the tranny rebuilt.
