Anyone shoot one of these? Other than the guys on the Flyway Highway TV show, I've never seen anyone that has one. I got a Cabela's flyer today with a 11-87 sportsman super mag. on sale for 599.99$. shoots 3.5's.

Mine constantly broke on me. The link from the bottom of the bolt to the plunger in the stock is made of cheap/thin metal so it breaks under the pressure of the 3.5's. Mine broke 6 times in one season, all in the blind! So i sunk that POS and bought a Benelli and have'nt looked back since.

My buddy has a 3in 11-87 and it constantly jams.

Not a Staffer but I think it's a lot of pot luck when it comes to autoloading shotguns. I have hunted and shot Skeet, Trap and Clay's competitavly for years with 1100/1187 2 3/4 & 3" and Browning Gold's while my partners have had SBEII's and Beretta's and I have had far less issues with mine than they have. I have always wanted to move up to the SBE's but cant justify price versus reliability factor.

Nothing against Remington, but the 1100's were much better guns. This newer 11-87 design just uses cheaper parts and most people I know that own them regret buying them.

If you want to stick with Remington, I'd say get an 1100, because those are solid and reliable guns.

Or an 870, i know a lot of people want auto's for obvious reasons. But, the 870 Super Mag Waterfowl version sure is a nice gun. It has some nicer features than the regular version, plus, it's cheaper & more reliable.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm a Nova, 870 kinda guy. But, for the price, I thought I might give the autoloader a try. I think I'll stick to elbow-power.

If your gonna blow that money on an autoloader, save a few hundred and check the Rem. Spartan (Bakail Mp-143 I believe its "technically" called).

Damn good guns, watch the youtube vid of the crazy russian beatin the piss out of that gun and it still shoots.

I have had my 3" 1187 for over five years with no problems with it whatsoever. I bought the combo with the cantilever slug barrel too. I consider it a reliable gun. Just my 2 cents.

I have a 1187 to it gets jammed. you just have to keep it dry after you clean it. and when it gets really cold keep some 0-rings with you cause it says they tend to break.

There is nothing wrong with the Rem. 11-87. A.W. hit the nail on the head, the key word to that gun is "DRY". Silicone powder in the action, trigger asembly, etc. Never had a problem with the "O" ring, don't shoot many 3.5's. I mainly shoot my 870's, own every shotgun "make" but prefer Remington.

every problem Ive ever seen with a 11-87 jamming was due to it being dirty. The gas chamber can be real finicky. But as long as you keep it clean on a regular basis it should perform like its suppose to.

That one of the big differences and price difference say for examble the Berettas. I went almost 3 years without cleaning my gas chamber in my Extrema and it never gave me a problem.

Charles Daily buddy!! I shoot the absolute pi$$ out of mine. It was cheap and not to mention they have the best customer service I have ever dealt with.

Thanks for the advice guys. In case anyone was wondering, I stuck with elbow power and went with the 870 express super mag

Good choice - can't like the 11-87 either. Brother had one a month. We couldn't get it to go 150 rounds without a failure. Wasn't reliable enough for what we were doing. Traded it in on a 425 and never looked back.

2 weeks later I was curious to see what they had it on the rack used for. Was almost as new and the guy told me it was hardly used.

"Guy had it 4 weeks - hardly shot"

"Man - there are over 3000 rounds thru that shot gun. I know because I put 1/2 of them thru it"

Guy wasn't too happy.

Long story short - pretty hard to screw up a good 870. Just wish I could get a modern Rem 31. New steels and adjustable chokes with the great slick action. I ain't gonna bugger mine up to shoot steel thru it now.

I figured since my 870 mag slug gun has been so reliable, id stick with it for my new waterfowl gun. Had a nova but i suffered enough through too many years of it being too long and I couldnt find a shorter stock. I really liked the 870 xcs. But I couldnt bring myself to pony up the extra coin for it.
Thanks again for all the suggestions. you guys rock!

I had one of the earlier 3" Premium 11-87's. It was a pita - constant ftf's, required cleaning everytime you used it...I got rid of it last year and replaced it with another Nova as a back-up/loaner.

The only Remington shotgun I would even consider owning is a 870 Wingmaster.

Get off of your wallet and buy a Beretta, if you are a dead serious waterfowler then that is what you do!!! Don't waste your money on a 11-87. I also owned one and i will never again buy a gun that is made on an assembly line...Up here in Canada we hunt in dirt and rain and snow. But if we ever start shooting ducks indoors at 75 degrees then i will for surely buy a Remington...Well then again maybe not, LOL.....

Hahaha....Well, I guess I'm not a dead serious waterfowler. I pulled out 275 bucks for a like-new 870 express super mag, then sat back down on my wallet. Hey bro, you ever find a spot where you can hunt ducks indoors at 75 degrees, let me know. I'll bring the jerky.:D

I have had a remington 11-87 12ga special purpose all blacked out for about 5 years it has been a great gun i beat the piss outta it and it shoots wonderfully and always performs well I will honestly say i like it more than my SBE II i have on heard bad things about the 3 1/2 inch 11087 but mine only shots 3's and its the best gun i have ever owned hands down

Not a staffer but I fell into the same deal for a 1187 Supermag at Dicks Sporting Goods. Needless to say, I traded the gun in a couple months later because it constantly wouldn't feed shells. Also, it wouldn't eject lighter loads for dove hunting, clay targets, etc. I have always been a Remington owner shotguns and rifles...but now have a sbeII and no remington compares.
