My first waterfowl shot was when I was 12 or 13. Walking along the edge of the reservoir w/ my dad squirrel hunting (he's not a hunter). There was an ugly hybrid duck/goose/cormerant something-or-another standing on the shore. I started chasing it. It just stood there. I shot and missed. It didn't move. I ran up to like 10 yards and shot it....It had clipped feathers on its wings and was probably someones pet.:-( We ate it.

My first waterfowl kill was a blue-winged teal I shot when I was 6. I have it mounted. 2 days after we took it to the taxidermist I shot a full plumed green winged teal. Wish I would have waited. And I shot my first pheasant the same year.

My favorite waterfowl first time when I was 12 or 13 walking along the edge of the reservoir squirrel hunting with my father, he is not a hunter. There was an ugly duck hybrid. I started running, I shot it but I missed, But I ran up about 10 yards and fired.
