There are alot of sounds that you can make on a short reed like trains, push moans, buzz clucks, and willis clucks. If you want to hear all of these sounds and more go to callingduck.com and click on instructional material and click on honker talk and listen to all of nice sounds of a short reed goose call. :D :D :D :D :D :D

welcome aboard....you'll pick up on that shortreed in no time.....stick with it....
look into the CD's " Strait Meat Sounds" and " Honker Sounds II"
they are an excellent resource as well...and you can play them in your truck while you drive .....so you can practice....

definately pick up a DVD and the CD's they will speed up your learning process considereably, The short reed is almost limmitless in the sounds that can be made with it. Keep practicing, and you will be amazed at what you can do with it by next season.

(greenheadassasin) I myself learned on a flute first. You can get some really awsome sounds out of a flute too. But there is 2 downfalls that myself personally see's. 1 back pressure having your hands in the right spot all the time trying to get all your different goose sounds,AND 2 you deffinitly can't get near as fast on a flute as you can a short reed. Trying to make that transition from a flute to a short reed was somewhat a pain in the a$$.
Just stick with it, get callin geese 2 jeff's instructional dvd. Keep on it. When it ticks you off stop blowin your call for a few hours or longer and go back to it a little later and sometimes the sounds that were driving you nuts before trying to get will come to you BANG just like that.
Just stick with it, you will get it even though it could really test your patience if you have any questions at all like the guys said don't be affraid to ask, thats how you learn. Good luck :D
