Grindage starts in NWPA

Watched a good field every morning Thursday-Monday packed with birds, come sunday and monday the majority of them had started on a new field about 1/4 mile down the road. The gentleman who owned it was already planning on hunting so we did the next best thing and hunted the first field. Arrived at 11pm the night before to ensure our spot and spent the night in the field. Had to work a little harder on the call and flags than usual as most of the birds that decoyed had already been shot at down the road. The morning went well overall and we got some great video footage to boot! Ended up with 32, 8 shy of our 5 man limit. Great day to be in the field with good friends.

Great job. U having issues locating birds this early season? Went out to three fields Sunday before opening day and saw birds in every field. Went there Tuesday...nothing...this morning (9/5) nothing...any feedback on scouting specific locations for early season geese? Last year was a blast, this year seems down...

Yep having a hard time finding birds compared to last years. Our group had put a ton of miles on the trucks and countless hours scouting morning and evenings in the last week. All I can say is, the harder you look the more birds you will find. We have been scouting state line to state line and every where in between. Hard to say if the resident population is down this year or not.
