Have been wanting to purchase a layout blind for sometime of my own, I have always just used a buddies or hunted out of a pit blind or on a hedgerow under some good ol' fashioned burlap. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a good blind that isn't super expensive. I am a pretty big guy, so I want something I can fit in and shut the doors and be comfortable, anyone that has experience with this, please comment, also I looked at the Eliminator Express, but I don't think the 14" height will cut it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I saw The Foiles Signature Express Blind, Any Comments on those, they seem pretty cheap?

Thanks

Man im 6'2 260 lbs and have a SUB and i fit in there with room to spare. i can get my gun case blind bag and another coat in it and not be crammed in there. i had an avery finisher as well but sold it for the SUB. fit well in the avery but my head rest wouldnt stay in and the sub felt a lot more comfortable then the finisher did.

I jsut purchased a FA SUB from rogers sporting goods for $219.99, $25.00 shipping and it came with a dozen Final Approach flocked head shells, a flag and decoy bag. I am 6'3" 215lbs and I fit great in mine and it was the most comfortable blind I have been in!

The eliminator is a great blind for the money..it doesn't have a lot of the bells and whistles like the more expensive blinds..but it gets the job done. It is very low profile, easy to transport, and really easy to hide. The shows I have worked..they have been a big seller to repeat buyers. A lot of guys say they had one and had to buy a couple more just cause of the price and so they have extras incase some buddies come along.

does it really matter if you get the field khaki or the camo?....because you are just going to cover it up with weeds and stuff later

Hey guys I'm also going to buy a layout, gonna try somthing different than the boat for a change. I'm looking at the finisher or the SUB like you guys suggested... ONE question , does the SUB have a zipper at the end for cleaning the boot area out? I am told that this is preety handy. Appreciate the input

Marsh Master I bought a SUB this year and dislike it. 6 pins that suck trying to get them in place. I am buying Xlanders for the boy and I. This will be the 6th different blind type I have owned.

I use a Guide Series layout from Gander mountain. I had good luck with it this year and for the price $180 i was happy. It can be hard to put together sometimes however although i usually just bring a hammer to the field, and that speeds up the process.

I myself just purchased an FA Express Blind. No it does not have all the bells and whistles, but you get your 150 bucks out of it. Mine is in Max 4 and i think that it's one of the best camo patterns you can get. The darkness of the pattern helps you fit in to alot of corn fields great and pond banks even better. I bought mine at Bass Pro. I'm 6'3 and 280 lbs and i can get down in it fine and cover up. There is not much room for your case or bag but I just shove it behind my head anways. It also has dual flagging holes on each side for easy access to the outside.

Ryan....

That is a great deal...$140 for an SUB!!!! Don't even worry about the Field Khaki...been hunting out of a Field Khaki X-Land'r all year, mixed in with a MAX-4 SUB here and there. They both blend in well to any terrain. The key is that you HAVE to MUD YOUR BLIND!!!! Once you mud your blind, a good portion of the camo is no longer visible anyway....

If I were you...I would be jumpin' on that deal brother!!! FOR SURE!!!

If I had to say what the best blind for the money would be.....either the X-Land'r or the Eliminator Express. Both excellent blinds, backpackable, can be used to tote silos/gear, and comfy. You get a few more benefits with the X-Land'r, but both, are top of the class for their price point!!!

I have a migrator and i love it I also have a cabellas interceptor. both are good blinds but the interceptor just doesnt fit me verywell i am 6'5 and 300 lbs and there just isnt enough room for my scholders coming up to shoot thats the only downfall. I just purchased my migrator for rogers and i will never own another blind it it awsome other than the fact that it doesnt colapse very well

That khaki SUB for $140 would be a great blind. I had one and sold it, cause it just didn't fit in my Explorer with all the other stuff I have to have too. If I had a pickup with a topper or something a little larger, it would've been great. I use a Finisher and really like it, but the SUB was roomier and just as comfortable. I only wish it had folded down like the Finisher does...then I wouldn't have sold it.

So the SUB doesn't fold down that small, right now I am driving a Oldsmobile car unfortunately to get me down the road from a---b....so I wonder if a SUB would fit in that?

I guess I never took that into consideration, considering my poor old car is already loaded down with decoys, guns, and other miscellaneous chit......

The SUB lays flat then folds in half length ways. The Finisher lays flat, folds length ways, and then folds in half from side to side. I'd say that the SUB will probably lay flat in your trunk and then you could pile your other stuff up on top of it. My Explorer would've been fine, if I didn't have two child seats in the back seat ALL the time. BTW...if you've never tried to put in and take out child seats on a daily basis, then you've never, EVER, experience true frustration...haha.

bet those child seats hold yer deek bags real good :D

BigR

oh I can imagine, that would be a pain in the ass, I asked the guy if he would come down at all and he was firm, he got it on a trade of a bunch of chit apparently and doesn't really know what they go for, if he doesn't budge either way here in a couple days, I might just go for it....Although the Eliminator Express is on sale at Cabelas in whatever camo pattern for 129, so thats awful tempting just so I have a new one and don't have to worry about it having any flaws or breaking and not being able to return it or something....I am a pretty big guy, about 6'1" and 330, so I just want to make sure I can fit down in comfortably is the main thing, as far as camouflaging, I can handle that perfectly fine, I am not too worried about mudding it or what not.....and from the sounds of guys that are big guys too, you can fit in either comfortably....I just wonder how the Eliminator Express packs away compared to the SUB? I hope to have a truck in the near future at some point, but am not wishful thinking yet....I am planning on toting everything in my car for another year :?

The child seats are great for spinning wing type dekes, but not too hand for the bigger fullbodies or mallards...haha.

The Eliminator Express probably folds down smaller than the SUB, but I can't say for sure. I hunt with two guys that use x landers and they love'em. I have to say I like them too. Easy to backpack in with storage space for your gun and silos.
