Does anybody shoot the low recoil slugs? Is there any disadvantage of using them compared to a normal smooth bored slug?

you lose some trajectory and retained energy, but you probably wont notice much of a difference inside 80 yards.

What gun and choke do you shoot them out of?

We shoot Brenneke's all year long & roast alot of deer. We shoot out of smooth & rifled bore barrels. The last deer was taken @ 53 yards & it busted the should, poked out the other side & the deer only ran 20 yards.

What choke and gun combo were you using? And were you using the Brenneke KOs?

We are using Mossberg 500's with rifled barrels. The slugs hold up when going through/in deer. We try to only shoot Brenneke's

do you see much lead fouling in your rifled barrels when you run rifled slugs designed for smoothbores? i ask because i used a rifled barrel on a mossy 500 for a few seasons, and anytime i ran out of sabots i had horrible fouling issues with the old brenneke rottweil slugs as well as winchester super x slugs.

Sorry for taking soo long to respond. I have been working on the duckboat. There is hardly any lead left over. My cousin uses sabots & we use Brenneke's. He may have a longer shot, but we wont change to any other slug. We kill alot, & I mean alot of deer with brenneke's.

i went away from the fully rifled barrel when i got my super x2. just couldnt justify the $400 for a barrel i use for maybe 3 days. now i run a briley rifled choke tube and shoot remington buck hammers. this fall will be my 16th year slug hunting, and ive killed deer with everything from a youth 20 gauge to a single shot 12 gauge fully rifled heavy barrel stand gun. i would love to build a thompson center with a 20 gauge 20" rifled ported barrel someday...but for now i'll stick to slinging pumpkins inside 100 yards.

I've shot the remington low recoil sluggers and was really impressed. Open sights, 40 yards, free standing and was able to put 5 in the kill zone of a target. I've always hunted with my winchester pump, open sights, 2.75 inch Remington Sluggers...where I grew up is Shotgun only zone and they do the job.
